Overview
Our client is seeking a UI/Visual Designer with a strong creative and artistic background to elevate digital mortgage and marketing experiences. This role is more UI/creative than UX — we need someone who can make digital assets visually striking, modern, and engaging, while ensuring designs stay aligned with accessibility and financial industry standards.
You will collaborate with the Mortgage Technology team on Salesforce-driven initiatives while also supporting broader our client's digital campaigns (cross-sell, promotions, seasonal launches, and member engagement experiences). The ideal candidate thrives at the intersection of design artistry and digital product UI, with the ability to deliver icons, illustrations, infographics, and animations that make user experiences both functional and eye-catching.
Responsibilities
- Deliver visually compelling UI designs for digital mortgage flows, promotions, and campaign experiences.
- Create custom icons, illustrations, infographics, and lightweight animations to enhance engagement.
- Design creative assets for seasonal campaigns, product cross-sell promotions, and digital member journeys.
- Partner with product managers, marketing, and engineering to ensure designs are appealing yet compliant in a regulated environment.
- Bring a contemporary design sensibility that resonates with both younger users and PenFed’s traditional credit union audience.
- Use design tools (Figma, Illustrator, Photoshop) to produce high-quality, polished visuals.
- Ensure all designs follow accessibility standards and responsive digital best practices.
- Advocate for creative solutions within the guardrails of banking/financial compliance.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in UI/Visual Design with a strong creative/illustration focus.
- Portfolio demonstrating:
- Modern, polished UI screens with strong visual storytelling.
- Custom asset creation (icons, infographics, illustrations, animations).
- Work that shows energy, creativity, and balance with corporate/regulated settings.
- Proficiency in Figma, Illustrator, Photoshop.
- Bonus: Motion graphics / video animation skills (e.g., After Effects).
- Bonus: Knowledge of HTML/CSS.
- Degree in Fine Arts, Graphic Design, or related discipline preferred.
