Addison Group is hiring: Senior Network Engineer (Radio Frequency) in Houston

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Engineer to design, implement, and maintain critical networking infrastructure supporting our oil and gas operations. This role requires deep expertise in Radio Frequency backhaul, enterprise networking, and hands-on experience with both Fortinet and Cisco IOS platforms. The engineer will ensure high availability, security, and performance across both office and remote field environments, often in challenging locations.

Base pay range

$100,000.00/yr - $150,000.00/yr

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and support enterprise network solutions across offices, field sites, drilling rigs, and processing plants.
• Implement and maintain RF backhaul systems (point-to-point/multipoint microwave, licensed/unlicensed links) to ensure reliable connectivity in remote locations.
• Configure, manage, and troubleshoot Fortinet firewalls (VPNs, SD-WAN, security) and Cisco IOS devices (routers, switches, wireless controllers).
• Plan and deploy Azure networking solutions including vNets, VPN gateways, ExpressRoute, and hybrid architectures.
• Develop and maintain IaC scripts for provisioning network and cloud resources (Terraform and related tools).
• Optimize LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, and remote access networks supporting industrial IoT, OT, and business applications.
• Collaborate with SCADA, IT, and OT teams to maintain secure segmentation between corporate and critical infrastructure networks.
• Monitor network performance, perform proactive maintenance, and resolve escalated issues, including after-hours emergencies.
• Document network architectures, configurations, and policies to support compliance and auditing.
• Enforce network security best practices and coordinate with vendors and field technicians for deployments.
• Participate in network architecture reviews, audits, and ongoing improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 4–7 years of experience as a Network Engineer in oil & gas or comparable industrial environments.
• Strong expertise in RF backhaul (path alignment, link budgeting, interference analysis, installation, maintenance).
• Hands-on experience with Cisco IOS routers/switches and Fortinet security appliances (FortiGate, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer).
