Overview
Fox TV Stations and FOX Television Stations own and operate 29 full power broadcast television stations in the U.S. These include stations located in 14 of the top 15 largest designated market areas, or DMAs, and duopolies in 11 DMAs, including the three largest DMAs (New York, Los Angeles and Chicago). Of these stations, 18 are affiliated with the FOX Network. In addition to distributing sports, entertainment and syndicated content, our television stations collectively produce approximately 1,200 hours of local news every week. These stations leverage viewer, distributor and advertiser demand for the FOX Network's national content.
Responsibilities
- Cover breaking news events, writing quickly and precisely to confirm developing information.
- Develop sources to confirm information quickly.
- Pursue original and exclusive stories.
- Collaborate with managers, producers, editors and photographers to produce high-quality stories.
- Meet deadlines and manage time effectively to prioritize and execute assignments.
- Arrive prepared with story ideas, pitches and updates on current events.
- Demonstrate strong writing skills and a solid live presence.
- Attend editorial meetings and contribute story ideas; weigh in on story selection.
- Help gather content for as much linear and digital programming as possible.
- Work to build the station's reputation and relationships in the community.
- Write stories for linear and digital programming.
Equipment
- Use Inews or other internal communication system, Slack, myfoxpay and Workday.
- Capable of shooting and editing a quality news package meeting the market's standards.
- If called upon, use a phone camera to gather news and produce a simple quality package suitable for air.
Working Conditions
- Primary work environment is the field, a news vehicle and the news building.
- Occasional time spent in the studio.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, broadcast journalism or related field preferred.
- 3+ years experience writing and researching news required.
- Strong writing skills and knowledge of current events.
- Team player and able to work flexible hours including holidays.
- Strong communication skills in newsroom interaction and storytelling.
- Knowledge of social media trends and best practices.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $90,000.00-105,000.00 per hour. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
