Overview
Walla Walla Community College (WWCC) is seeking applicants for a full-time Graphic Designer and Project Coordinator at the Walla Walla campus. The position collaborates with departments in designing and developing visual assets for digital and print platforms, including marketing collateral, branded merchandise, and promotional materials. In collaboration with the Director of Marketing and Communications, this role ensures that brand standards and quality are met and coordinates with related outsourced services as needed. This role will oversee the operation, supplies, and equipment to provide for an effective and efficient college print shop. OFM classification title: Graphic Design Senior.

Responsibilities
- Graphic and Product Design
- Design and develop visual assets for both digital and print platforms, including marketing collateral, branded merchandise, website content, social media content, and promotional materials.
- Develop product concepts and visual solutions that reflect brand standards and engage intended audiences.
- Maintain brand consistency across outputs while exploring fresh approaches to visual storytelling.
- Prepare and organize production-ready files for vendors, printers, and internal stakeholders.
- Proactively manage feedback and revisions, ensuring final deliverables meet expectations and timelines.
- Build and maintain template library in compliance with brand standards and college needs.
- Assist the Director of Marketing Communications with development and maintenance of employee toolkit including common marketing items and templates.
- Follow approved brand identity and related guidelines.
- Provide support to Director and others on digital marketing campaigns as needed; serve as point of contact for digital advertising design.
- Continually monitor emerging design trends.
- Project Coordinator
- Organize, prioritize, and track multiple design requests simultaneously, maintaining a clear workflow and meeting critical deadlines.
- Serve as a point of contact for design-related communications, gather input, ask clarifying questions, and provide timely updates throughout each project lifecycle.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (marketing, communications, outreach, and others) to understand objectives, provide creative input, and deliver high-quality outcomes.
- Oversee college's print shop
- Oversee operation of college's print shop space and operations.
- Provide support for all questions and requests related to print shop operations and related services.
- Source, quote, and order supplies (paper, toner, copier consumables, vinyl, ink, substrates, and large format print supplies).
- Maintain print shop equipment, and source/schedule outside maintenance as needed.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree in graphic design or related field or equivalent art school training. Professional experience may substitute for education requirement at the discretion of the College.
- Two (2) years of experience in a professional design role with a portfolio showcasing both digital and print design work.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign); SmartSheet or other collaboration tools a plus.
- Strong visual design fundamentals, including layout, typography, and color theory.
- Understanding of spot colors, bleeds, crop marks, and imposition for both digital and offset printing.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred/Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Product Design, or a related field
- Familiarity with HTML, CSS.
- Familiarity with email template design.
- Familiarity with production processes and vendor coordination.
- Familiarity with print shop finishing techniques such as trimming, folding, binding, scoring, perforating, and die-cutting.
- Ability to set up and operate finishing equipment (e.g., paper cutters, laminators, saddle stitchers, or coil binders).
- Comfortable troubleshooting minor print or finishing issues to help keep production on schedule.
- Bilingual English/Spanish
Conditions/Terms of Employment
This classified position is in a bargaining unit for which WPEA Higher Ed is the exclusive representative.
Work is performed indoors in an office environment. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day; during the summer, Monday through Thursday, 10 hours per day. The incumbent may be expected to adjust the work schedule to meet business needs. Occasional travel may be required to conduct business, attend training, or provide information to the public. Travel will be primarily local or regional. Duties require use of standard office furniture and equipment, as well as equipment specific to print shop functions. Frequent contact with employees, students, and others.
The college has an excellent benefit program including medical, dental, life and long-term disability insurance; paid sick leave; paid vacation leave; and retirement plan. All full-time employees will automatically have 3% of taxable income deferred into the State of Washington Deferred Compensation Program (DCP) unless declined at time of hire. WWCC requires all employees to participate in direct deposit for payment of salary. The college is tobacco free.
