PlayStation Studios - San Diego Studio - Senior Graphics PC Programmer
Overview / Why PlayStation?
Join San Diego Studio to work on a AAA PC title. We focus on delivering innovative, high‑quality gaming experiences. We are seeking a Senior PC Graphics Programmer to advance the visual and technical quality of a AAA PC title. In this role you will develop and optimize real-time graphics systems for PC, ensuring robust performance and high visual fidelity across a wide range of hardware configurations. You will write and optimize our PC engine, debug performance issues, implement new graphics features, and ensure the game takes full advantage of platform-specific technologies offered by NVIDIA and AMD. The ideal candidate thrives both independently and in cross-functional teams, with a strong interest in GPU architecture and real-time rendering innovation, and is skilled at profiling and optimizing complex graphics systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, optimize, and maintain real-time rendering systems and features specifically for PC.
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks related to rendering, memory usage, and hardware-specific constraints. Ensure compatibility and performance across a broad range of PC hardware, from high-end to lower-spec systems. Integrate and leverage hardware-specific technologies (e.g., NVIDIA DLSS, AMD FSR, ray tracing, VRS, etc.). Implement requested graphics features and enhancements in collaboration with the broader engineering and rendering teams. Stay current with emerging rendering techniques and GPU technologies to drive visual improvements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
- 3+ years of experience programming in C++ with a focus on performance-critical applications.
- Strong experience with low-level graphics APIs such as DirectX, OpenGL, or Vulkan.
- Proficiency in GPU shader programming (compute, vertex, pixel).
- Strong foundational math skills (especially linear algebra, geometry and trigonometry).
- Hands-on experience with Visual Studio, Perforce, and other standard PC development tools.
- Proven ability to debug and optimize rendering performance across varied PC hardware configurations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with modern graphics features such as ray tracing, variable rate shading, mesh shaders, or similar.
- Understanding of performance challenges associated with rendering highly detailed scenes and UIs on PC.
- Familiarity with scripting languages like Python is a plus.
- Experience working with or developing for MacOS (desired but not required).
