Overview
FWS - Inventory & Collections Specialist - Forest Grove City Library (CSWS) role at Pacific University.

Department Name, location of department: Forest Grove City Library, Forest Grove.
Length of employment: 2025-26 academic year. Shifts are available Monday-Thursday, 9:30am - 7:30pm, Friday-Saturday 9:30am - 5:30pm.
Base pay range
$16.30/hr - $16.30/hr
Job Summary:
Libraries are awesome. We are right across the street from campus. We promote Digital & Literacy Equity by giving free access to information for all. Inventory maintenance, organization, and review is a part of every business model. This position will help you understand system workflows, learn the inner workings of libraries, and promote sustainability. This position will also learn about strategies that guide product storage/display, market segmentation in libraries, user information seeking behavior, and an understanding of the lifecycle of informational products.

Key Responsibilities
- What technologies we use to track materials usage (integrated library system [ILS], spreadsheets, databases, RFID tracking)
- How we determine what to keep vs remove, which includes marketing psychology, statistics, and customer segmentation.
- How we physically sort, store, and discard items from our collection (which includes understanding inter-governmental relationships and relationships with nonprofit entities)
- How we display our collection to entice people to take materials home.
- Best ways to organize materials so people can locate materials efficiently.
- An understanding of our county-wide cooperative library system.
- Best practices to promote sustainability in our community.
- Those interested in working in local government would also have the opportunity to learn about, shadow, or tour workspaces and facilities in the City of Forest Grove or County facilities. Staff will do our best to connect student workers with colleagues in other local government specializations.

Qualifications
Required
- Ability to complete shifts during the times listed above
- Ability to lift, push, and or pull up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to kneel, bend, stoop, sit, walk, and stand throughout the day (not a sit at the computer position)
- Attention to detail - for example, taking an Excel spreadsheet with 100+ titles on it, finding each item, and comparing each item number to ensure the item is the one indicated on the spreadsheet.
- Ability to organize alphabetically, numerically, and alphanumerically.
