The Hill, a division of Nexstar Media Group, is hiring a business and lobbying reporter to cover the intersection of K Street, Wall Street and Main Street. You will be responsible for covering the world of Washington, D.C., lobbying, how businesses seek to shape federal policy and the ways policymakers shape business in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Contributing to The Hill’s coverage of business trends, economic indicators, labor unions, federal regulations, and congressional hearings focused on business and the economy.
  • Leading The Hill’s coverage of lobbying and influence, including two weekly lobbying briefs.
  • Co-writing The Hill’s nightly “Business and Economy” newsletter.
  • Putting together The Hill’s annual top lobbyists list and working closely with policy, congressional, White House and campaign teams in a collaborative newsroom.

Qualifications

  • A degree in journalism or a related field is required, and previous reporting experience in a metro or national media environment is preferred.
  • Candidates should have good instincts for understanding reader interests and be able to produce error-free, clean journalism on a tight timetable.
  • Basic familiarity with Google Trends, SEO skills and real-time analytics are a plus.

Salary Range: $55,000 - $60,000 commensurate with experience
