Overview
Disney Entertainment Television marketing is seeking an experienced VFX Engineer to work closely with the award-winning FX Network marketing team. This team utilizes industry-standard software to generate and deliver marketing materials in a fast-paced, creative environment. The ideal candidate must have excellent communication skills and be able to consult, train, share knowledge, and build relationships with management, engineers, design artists, and creative directors. The Engineer will be responsible for the ongoing development of 2D & 3D content creation workflows and pipelines.
Responsibilities
- Direct department efforts to coordinate ideas and changes that improve service and optimize infrastructure.
- Partner with VFX management and artists to ensure engineering support expectations are met.
- Assist operators in resolving technical or operational issues.
- Develop, manage, upgrade, and maintain the operation of the network, storage, render farm, servers, and workstations.
- Ensure proper documentation of systems and procedures.
- Assess, troubleshoot, and resolve user hardware and software issues and/or failures.
- Maintain server room environmental and monitoring equipment, license servers, and asset tracking systems.
- Research and implement innovative technologies that enhance the creative vision of the FX Marketing Team.
- Mentor and train other team members.
Qualifications
- Engineering-level knowledge of standard CG and compositing applications, including Unreal, Maya, Houdini, Flame, Nuke, and Adobe Creative Cloud.
- Extensive experience developing pipelines for Adobe Creative Cloud applications.
- 5+ years of Linux, macOS, and Windows system administration experience, including networking and scripting.
- Demonstrable knowledge of scripting with Bash and Python.
- Experience with configuring and maintaining enterprise-scale hardware: workstations, render farms, enterprise storage, cloud computing, and servers.
- Strong understanding of storage and networking, including NFS, NAS storage clusters, and the StorNext file system.
- Familiarity with 3D rendering workflows, including Redshift or other GPU renderers, render farms, and AWS Thinkbox Deadline.
- Experience with remote working solutions, including Leostream and HP Anyware/Teradici.
- Experience with enterprise management software such as JAMF, PDQ, or similar.
- This role does require employees to be able to work any shift in a 24/7 facility.
Education
Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience.
This is a NABET daily hire represented position and requires the candidate to join the union.
Notes
This role is primarily based in Century Cit, CA, but will be relocating to Burbank, CA sometime during the ’25 calendar year – exact date to be determined.
Compensation and Benefits
The pay rate for this role in California is $56.56 to $74.19 per hour. The base pay actually offered may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors.
