Job Summary

The Video Production Assistant will be responsible for assembling raw material into a finished product for campus-wide broadcasting. The material may consist of raw camera footage with camera shots either recorded or transferred onto video tape.

Responsibilities include:

  • Inputting uncut rushes and footage, and synchronizing and storing them into files on the computer
  • Digitally cutting the files to determine the sequence of the film and determining what is usable
  • Creating a rough cut of the program/film and determining the exact cutting for the next and final stage
  • Reviewing content to ensure the logical sequencing and smooth running of the film/video

  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Possess a high sense of responsibility and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of PC operations and software.
  • Ability to maintain pleasant working relationships and work well in a team environment.
  • Software knowledge including but not limited to Adobe Premiere Elements, VideoPad, Pinnacle Studio HD, Roxio Creator, MS Office (Publisher, PowerPoint)

Who May Apply

  • Students enrolled at FIU, who have been awarded Federal Work Study (FWS) as part of their Financial Aid Award package.
  • Student must be enrolled with a minimum of six (6) credit hours in a course of study leading to a degree or a Financial Aid eligible certificate, during Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters.
  • Upon credits decreasing, award being canceled, or graduating, FWS employment must end.

Work Schedule

Hours will vary based on class schedule and needs of the department.

$15.00/Hour

  • Special trust, responsibility, and sensitive location.
  • Working in centers of health and/or counseling care.
