Overview

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tarrant County is seeking a Music & Youth Coordinator (Full-Time) in Arlington, TX. The Music & Youth Clubhouses are a national partnership between BGCGTC and Music & Youth Initiative. The Music Clubhouses offer a wide array of vocal, instrumental, and performance (including podcast) youth development activities. Each Clubhouse is outfitted with a performance stage, common area, recording studio, practice studios, and digital music studio. The programming is targeted to pre-teens and teens. As the Music & Youth Coordinator, you will teach youth across a variety of instruments and guide them through the creative process of music production, beat-making, performance preparation, and recording. You will also facilitate individual and small-group music production sessions using professional DAWs such as Logic Pro and Pro Tools.

Location: 200 E. Cravens Park Dr., Arlington, TX 76018 (Don Kromer Branch).

Responsibilities

Music Clubhouse Operations

  • Accountable for operations for the assigned Music Clubhouse location
  • Manage performance for achieving goals at the assigned location
  • Coordinate live performances, showcases, or community events
  • Build a safe, inclusive, and creative environment where youth feel heard and valued
  • Collaborate with staff, volunteers, and guest artists to enrich the music program
  • Support broader branch operations, including assistance with programming and other youth development activities as needed

Music Clubhouse Programming

  • Teach youth across multiple instruments (guitar, keyboard, drums, bass, vocals)
  • Facilitate small-group and one-on-one music production sessions
  • Mentor youth in songwriting, beat-making, performance preparation, and recording projects
  • Run and maintain the recording studio
  • Track youth participation and session notes

Leadership

  • Serve as a leader whom youth, staff, and partners choose to follow
  • Define the vision for program success and communicate actionable steps to achieve it
  • Execute program strategies effectively and consistently deliver measurable results
  • Coach and mentor staff, volunteers, and youth leaders to solve problems, improve performance, and develop skills
  • Collaborate with organizational leadership and management on supporting team development and operational alignment

Administrative Compliance

  • Complete all required reports and administrative duties on time
  • Gather and manage the necessary data, as well as handle both internal and external reporting
  • Comply with all administrative policies and procedures, processes, and controls
  • Accountable for accurate and timely paperwork, reports, and data entry
  • Responsible for utilizing all BGCGTC communication tools regularly and effectively

Facility & Safety

  • Accountable for adherence to all organizational health and safety policies and implementation of all safety practices and procedures at assigned work location(s)
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect members, staff, equipment, materials, and facilities. Abide by facility maintenance protocols and procedures to ensure compliance
  • Accountable for reporting incidents and completing documentation within the required timeline
  • Maintain discipline, de-escalate conflict between members and/or others
  • Obtain and review CPR/First Aid certification by the deadline

  • Be a positive role model
  • Maintain emotional control and make good decisions under pressure
  • Represent the Boys & Girls Club in a positive manner

Attendance

  • Regular attendance is required; arrive on time; punctuality is required

Qualifications

Education and Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or working towards completion of a degree
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with youth (professional or volunteer)
  • Proficiency on multiple instruments and experience teaching youth
  • Intermediate to advanced music capabilities (music production, reading music, knowledge of music theory)

Minimum Requirements:

  • Ability to work regular business hours, periodic nights, and weekends
  • Ability to lead and motivate the work of a group of individuals, including volunteers and professionals, in fundraising activities that produce sustained and improved results over time
  • Ability to prioritize effectively
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision and adhere to strict deadlines
  • Ability to work collaboratively in groups
  • Organizational aptitude to tackle multiple, wide-ranging tasks at once, while utilizing skills of time and task management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Drive
  • Ability to set and meet goals in a timely fashion through self-sufficiency
  • Experience performing data entry and working knowledge of databases
  • Must be able to pass agency background screens and drug screens at any time
  • Must have reliable transportation, liability insurance, a satisfactory driving record, and a valid driver’s license for the operation of a motor vehicle relevant to carrying out duties

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Music
  • Bilingual
  • Experience with live performance coordination or open mic events
  • Knowledge of digital music publishing, podcasting, or DJ software
  • Work experience with or program knowledge of the Boys & Girls Club Movement (national and/or local Club) is an advantage
  • Experience in a non-profit environment

Pay & Benefits

  • Hourly pay: $23.50 per hour (nonexempt; full-time)
  • Benefits: Eligible for health, vision, and dental coverage; 401(K) plan and flexible spending accounts; life insurance; and short and long-term disability. Paid Time off (PTO) and company-paid holidays.
