Director of Product Design at Flex. Flex is a growth-stage FinTech company headquartered in New York City focused on improving rent payment experiences. The role reports to leadership and leads the product design strategy for core rent products, shaping the consumer experience and design system evolution. This is a hybrid role with 3 days per week on-site at our New York Headquarters. Relocation assistance may be available for candidates outside the NY/NJ area. What You’ll Do
Own and lead the design team and strategy for our core rent products Shape and drive a vision for the consumer experience Align and connect multiple teams to deliver on that vision and achieve business goals Facilitate and lead your team to explore and refine their solutions for critical projects Set a high standard for quality across everything your team does, including contributions to the Design System, Ultraviolet Collaborate with other design leaders to ensure alignment and consistency across all teams working on the consumer experience Influence design and product decisions by staying informed about design industry and UX trends Test folding AI into team workflows and UX strategy to build for the future Invest in the growth and development of direct reports and the design team through operational excellence Reinforce Flex principles and culture through personal behavior and actions Key Qualifications
5+ years of experience as a senior or staff product designer and 4+ years managing a team of designers Extensive experience designing and shipping consumer-facing native digital products, ideally in-house Experience building and maintaining a scalable design system Excellent communication skills; ability to translate complex technical and product challenges into clear design challenges for the team Ability to use qualitative and quantitative insights to guide a customer-centered strategy Experience directing design processes from research to concepting to refinement and prototyping Demonstrated ability to drive outcomes and wear multiple hats when needed Comfort with ambiguous problems and a self-starter mindset Passion for financial products and improving people’s financial lives Nice-to-have: experience designing and building FinTech products A portfolio of work detailing contributions to shipped solutions Note: The compensation range is commensurate with experience and internal leveling; for working locations in NY/NJ/CA, the base salary range is provided as a reference.
