The Traveling Entertainment Technical Director (ETDC) is a pivotal fleetwide technical leader responsible for providing expert guidance, training, and operational oversight across all entertainment technical systems on Celebrity Cruises ships. This role ensures consistency, safety, and excellence in entertainment technical operations by traveling between ships, supporting shoreside and shipboard projects (including drydocks and press events), and collaborating closely with Production leadership. The ETDC champions safety compliance, crew scheduling, and continuous process improvement, acting independently to lead initiatives that elevate the entertainment technical standards fleetwide.

About the Role

The ETDC is responsible for providing expert guidance, training, and operational oversight across all entertainment technical systems on Celebrity Cruises ships.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert guidance and training across entertainment technical systems.
  • Ensure consistency, safety, and excellence in entertainment technical operations.
  • Support shoreside and shipboard projects, including drydocks and press events.
  • Collaborate closely with Production leadership.
  • Champion safety compliance and crew scheduling.
  • Lead initiatives for continuous process improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Entertainment, Technical Production, Engineering, or related field — or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of advanced technical management experience in live entertainment, preferably with multi-ship or touring production backgrounds.

Required Skills

  • Strong expertise in lighting, sound, rigging, stage automation, and aerial systems.
  • Solid mechanical and electrical knowledge.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects independently and lead cross-functional teams effectively.
  • Experience with crew scheduling, rotation management, and training program development.
  • Proficient with digital project management tools, including Smartsheet, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Collaborative approach to problem-solving and team development.

Preferred Skills

  • Previous cruise line or travel-intensive entertainment experience preferred.
