We're looking for an excellent communications leader to join our team and drive a comprehensive communications strategy for a senior executive in Card. As a key advisor, this Executive Communications leader will shape and execute the communications strategy to drive the vision and strategy of the leader and the organization, while supporting our unique team culture centered around Capital One's values.
This person will be responsible for developing and implementing internal communications that connect leaders and their teams to their leaders' business strategy and the Card strategy. Our work directly supports business programs and initiatives and helps cultivate the best associate experience. By joining our team, you'll be expected to push the envelope, find a better way and strive to do the extraordinary.
We're looking for fresh ideas on how to connect leaders in new ways and create meaningful communications that promote associate engagement and drive value for the business. You will be responsible for evaluating opportunities, driving communications strategies from start to finish, and preparing content for internal audiences. You should be knowledgeable in providing communications counsel that is backed by channel metrics and associate feedback, comfortable and well-versed in speaking to leadership teams, and willing to partner with HR, chiefs of staff, and other stakeholders to most effectively drive communications. Additionally, you'll support large scale projects, events, and internal campaigns. Judgment, influencing and problem solving are your superpowers. At your core, you care about our associates and want to create an inclusive, appreciative and fun environment for them.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Develop and implement a communications strategy that helps build your leader's brand internally, and brings their organization and Card narratives to life.
- Be a creative storyteller who curates engaging experiences including leadership gatherings, all-employee meetings, digital/video storytelling and special events.
- Serve as a strategic partner to other executive communicators and chiefs of staff to plan and prepare effective, thoughtful, and engaging internal communications that educate, inform, connect with, and inspire leaders and employees.
- When necessary, lead change management communications in support of the business.
- Draft leader talking points and review presentations.
- Provide counsel on communicating business strategy, elevating leadership profiles, managing issues, and implementing corporate initiatives.
- Evaluate performance for communications based on real-time metrics and other leading key performance indicators; recommend refinements to communications strategies, messaging, and new feedback mechanisms, as needed, based on ongoing assessments.
- Partner with and influence internal partners as needed in the best interests of the business and its employees.
Here's what we are looking for in you:
- Strong business acumen and customer-orientation and proven track record of collaborative work relationships.
- Great judgment with the ability to work with a high level of autonomy.
- Excellent writing and story-telling skills.
- The ability to distill complex content into clear, concise, and engaging communications.
- Experience managing issues, crisis communications, and organizational change communications.
- Outstanding time management and organizational skills, with an ability to consistently execute multiple, and sometimes competing, activities and complex projects to high quality conclusion, on-time.
- Highly motivated - an eagerness to learn and become an expert on the business to better inform your communications strategy and deliverables.
You'll need to wear many hats including:
- Problem-solver: You partner with executives to understand their intent and goals, develop plans that meet those needs and relentlessly pursue options to deliver results.
- Diplomat: You're comfortable and adept with influencing senior leaders, you have a strong customer-orientation and proven track record of collaborative work relationships. You thrive in a matrixed environment where direct control is limited and the need to influence is high.
- Creator: You're a strong, autonomous leader who is able to establish a vision and deliver it through our key partners - and you can work your creative muscle in developing communications and campaigns that grab attention and get results.
- Strategist: You have a deep understanding of where the team wants to go and can develop the communications strategy to help them get there.
- Project Leader: You're detailed- and process-oriented, with a natural tendency to identify and mitigate risks. You're experienced managing several projects and initiatives at once.
- Juggler: You don't get overwhelmed or flustered easily. You reprioritize work as needed to adjust to changing business needs, and take action with urgency as appropriate.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or military experience
