Airbus Commercial is looking for a Head of Content to join our Communications team in Herndon, Virginia. The Head of Content leads the development and execution of Airbus's multi-channel content strategy in the U.S. across internal, external and audiovisual platforms, ensuring alignment between the Airbus brand identity, global objectives and regional priorities. The role delivers clear, consistent messaging that builds brand relevance, engages key stakeholders, protects Airbus's corporate reputation, and fosters pride in the company's mission and purpose. The Head of Content works closely with business and functional stakeholders to align content with campaign timelines, product announcements and market positioning.

We leverage digital channels and tools, and partner with business units throughout Airbus to position the company as a brand of choice for external customers and employees alike. Your Working Environment The Washington, D.C. metro area is home to multiple Airbus offices. Your Challenges

One Voice Content: Develop and implement a comprehensive content strategy to engage external and internal stakeholders, aligning with Airbus values, culture and purpose.

Internal brand voice: Ensure consistent, clear storytelling that simplifies technical concepts and connects with diverse audiences.

External visibility: Strengthen Airbus's relevance among key stakeholders and support brand-building in the U.S. market.

Internal Communications

Collaborate with HR and business leaders to produce employee communications (intranet articles, newsletters, executive messages) that are consistent in tone and aligned with the broader company narrative and regional priorities.

Oversee the distribution of internal content across channels and monitor engagement to continuously improve relevance and effectiveness.

Ensure internal content aligns with Airbus's mission and values, highlights achievements, reinforces leadership messaging, and fosters pride in the company's purpose.

Ensure consistency with global employee communications themes and formats.

External

Lead the creation of external content (traditional and digital media assets) with an integrated 360-degree communication approach.

Work with business stakeholders to align content for campaigns, product announcements and market positioning.

Strengthen Airbus's external narrative by identifying storytelling opportunities and adapting messages to resonate in the U.S. market context.

Manage proactive and reactive media relations strategy for traditional and social media.

Audiovisual

Responsible for the production of all audiovisual content (videos, graphics, webinars, etc.) to bring Airbus's stories to life across platforms.

Guide the development of compelling scripts and visual narratives that reflect Airbus's messaging and technical expertise.

Manage end-to-end audiovisual projects, guiding internal teams and external partners to ensure creative quality and brand consistency.

Ensure all multimedia content is on-brand, optimized for various platforms and audiences, and engages the intended audiences.

Explore and integrate emerging formats (e.g., interactive media, virtual events) to expand Airbus's content reach and engagement.

Content & Asset Management

Drive content operations by managing editorial calendars, workflows, and cross-functional coordination to ensure efficient, consistent, and timely delivery of content.

Oversee digital asset management systems and maintain a centralized, up-to-date content library, upholding content governance standards (branding, style, accessibility, quality).

Leverage data and performance metrics to extract actionable insights and continuously optimize content effectiveness.

Lead strategic content initiatives, including special projects and exploring new distribution approaches or campaign formats, ensuring alignment with business objectives and integration into the broader strategy.

Mentor and guide the content team, encourage cross-department collaboration, and ensure all content aligns with Airbus's messaging and protects reputation through proactive coordination with PR and communications.

Required Education

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism or a related field

Master's degree is a plus

Experience

12+ years of experience in content strategy, content marketing, or communications, including proven experience managing and mentoring a content team.

Experience in aerospace and in global and matrixed organizations is preferred.

Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to craft a consistent brand voice and simplify technical concepts for broad audiences.

Excellent understanding of multi-channel content strategy and digital platforms (social media, internal communication channels), ensuring coherent messaging across all.

Knowledge of content analytics tools and current trends in digital content and media formats.

Proven project management and organizational skills, capable of handling multiple content projects, deadlines, and cross-functional coordination.

Proven experience managing and developing a communications team and working with leadership.

Familiarity with content management systems and digital asset management tools, and experience maintaining content governance standards.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels and across cultures.

Physical Requirements

Onsite or remote: Approximately 60% onsite presence in the Herndon, VA office and 40% remote work per Airbus policy.

Vision: Able to see and read computer screens and printed materials daily.

Hearing: Able to hear and participate in conversations in person and via videoconference daily.

Speaking: Able to speak clearly in meetings and presentations, and to communicate information to groups daily.

Equipment Operation: Able to operate standard office equipment.

Carrying: Able to carry light materials such as a laptop, documents, or promotional items up to TBD.

Lifting: Able to lift office materials or equipment occasionally.

Pushing/Pulling: Able to push or pull minor office furniture or equipment occasionally.

Sitting: Able to sit for extended periods; Standing/Walking: able to stand during presentations or walk within facilities.

Travel: Able to travel domestically and internationally, up to approximately TBD of the time, and on short notice when required.

Personal Protective Equipment: Not typically required in an office setting. Must be able to comply with safety requirements when visiting Airbus production sites or events where such equipment is necessary.
