Marketing And Communications Assistant
Provides administrative support to the Marketing and Communications and Advancement departments to support day-to-day operations and cross-functional projects, which may include but is not limited to filing, scanning, copying, data entry, and answering calls or emails. Supports with preparation, planning, and administration of fundraising activities and other YAI events including donor receptions and community celebrations and reports on-site to provide support at YAI events across the NYC metropolitan area. Under the direction of Marketing and Communications department leadership: Assists with crafting and executing storytelling campaigns that highlight the people, staff, and mission of YAI, which are designed to increase awareness and engagement with desired audiences. Creates and schedules engaging social media content across platforms including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, TikTok, etc. Shoots and edits short-form videos for digital platforms to drive engagement and awareness. Attends events and visits programs across areas of service to collaborate with program staff and individuals supported by YAI to gather stories, testimonials, and visuals, taking pictures and videos for use in digital marketing campaigns. May moderate or engage social media audiences when applicable to enhance engagement including responding to reviews (Google, etc.) or posts (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, etc.). Under the direction of Advancement department leadership: Develops an understanding and awareness of private support needs, opportunities, and impacts of support across the organization by engaging with YAI programs and staff on-site and/or at events and working with other members of the Advancement team on grants, solicitation, etc. Supports fundraising campaigns, including drafting donor communications and event materials. Helps develop and execute storytelling strategies designed to inspire and engage donor audiences across digital, print, and in-person channels. Participates in outreach and engagements with supporters and donors, regularly documenting all outreach efforts and engagements, tracking and monitoring updates and next steps in collaboration with Advancement team. Performs all other duties, as assigned. Minimum Qualification Requirements including education, experience, licensure/certification, etc. and essential physical capabilities (e.g. lifting, assisting lifting, standing, etc.): Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism or a related field; and Two (2) years of experience in communications, social media, and/or nonprofit development; or Satisfactory equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training. Proficiency with social media platforms and management tools (e.g., Canva, Asana, Sprout Social). Strong video shooting and editing skills using related software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, CapCut and/or Final Cut Pro. Enthusiasm for YAI's mission and values and commitment to learning and developing a strong understanding of programs and services and promoting inclusion and equity. Proficiency with computers, electronic systems, Internet and web interfaces, including Microsoft Office Suite and ability to quickly learn and use related systems (Workday, Salesforce, etc.) and common office equipment to complete essential tasks. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong project management skills with attention to detail. Highly organized, with good time management and follow-up skills and the ability to appropriately prioritize multiple tasks to meet prescribed timelines in a fast-paced environment. Ability to report on-site to our Manhattan office at least three (3) days per week in accordance with the Agency's Return to Office Policy and to travel to program sites and YAI events across the New York City metropolitan area and to other areas serviced by YAI or its affiliates, as needed/requested. Ability to work a flexible schedule including occasional evening and/or weekend hours for program visits, networking and/or fundraising events. Ability and willingness to learn and leverage AI to support digital marketing strategies and content development. Ability to meet essential physical demands of position including using hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; sitting for extended periods and standing, lifting and/or carrying equipment weighing up to 20 pounds, as needed, including during set-up for events. Preferred Qualification Requirements (desired requirements beyond MQRs above): Experience working in or with the intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) community.
