Epic Instructional Designer

The Instructional Designer is responsible for developing and maintaining training material for Epic electronic health record (EHR) system. This position is also responsible for building, testing, and maintaining the training environments of EHR system. The Epic Instructional Designer will ensure a high level of success for credentialed trainers, super users, and end users. Here is what you will be doing: Develops curriculum, training materials, and training evaluation tools for assigned application(s) and keeps curriculum and related materials up to date as system changes occur. Builds, tests, and maintains the training environment for designated application(s). Develops and supports a team of supplemental (credentialed) trainers in their designated application(s). Develops and supports a team of super users in their designated application(s). Delivers training for designated application(s) which may include classroom, one-on-one, or remote instruction for super user and end user audiences. Assists in the development of eLearning modules and development of other training tools to support the training programs. Assists Training Manager with training strategy for designated application(s). Responsible for working with application analyst/builders, project team, and operational stakeholders to understand Subject Matter Expert (SME) requirements and develop training strategy that matches the end user workflow. Participates in the development of training policies and requirements for designated application(s). Ensures deliverables are approved by the appropriate members of the project team and are completed in accordance with the training strategy. Participates in all training team, projects and change control meetings as required. May travel for support of remote clients and also must be available outside of normal business hours. Desired Skills: Strong knowledge of EHR application Clinical or operational skills in using EHR applications Proficient skills with information systems technology Ability to cross train to other applications if needed Strong customer service orientation skills Ability to interact with multidisciplinary teams Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, email, intranet, internet, and other systems Knowledge of workflow process analysis and design Ability to work independently and make independent judgments Strong verbal and written communication skills including instruction or speaking to large groups. Ability to maintain Continuing Epic Education requirements for certification Here is what you will need: Bachelor's degree - OR, Associate's and two (2) or more years of job-related experience - OR, High School diploma (or equivalent certificate from an accredited program) and four (4) or more years of job-related experience Two (2) or more years of healthcare and/or information systems experience (may be concurrent) One (1) or more years of experience project-based teamwork (may be concurrent) 90 Days: Epic certification and/or able to achieve Epic certification within 90 days of last Epic certification class Nice to have: Bachelor's Degree in relevant area or a minimum of 3 years creating training materials or curriculum Three years of health care experience Three years of experience training in information systems Two years of experience in adult learning theory About Cheyenne Regional: Cheyenne Regional Medical Center was founded in 1867 as a tent hospital by the Union Pacific Railroad to treat workers injured while building the transcontinental railroad.
