Role and Responsibilities The Senior Manager of Public Relations is responsible for creating and implementing communications initiatives for Samsung’s Mobile eXperience (MX) business in the USA. This includes but is not limited to wearable products including Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Ring, true wireless stereo audio products, accessories as well as Lifestyle Marketing media relations. The scope of work includes developing and executing strategic plans to generate positive coverage across a broad variety of media and influencer outlets. The Sr. Manager will also be responsible for the reputation and brand awareness of a wide range of Samsung products and services as well as drive PR campaigns directly and utilizing the services of media agency partners. In addition, the Sr, Manager will manage the day-to-day operations of PR agencies and oversee all respective activities.
This position will require a communications professional to comfortably interface with senior executives as well as other internal marketing and sales stakeholders. The Sr. Manager must also liaison with counterparts in the Korea head office for global communication strategy to coordinate on media targets, events and general media outreach related to product and service launches.
The Sr. Manager must be experienced showing both strategic and creative communication acumen as well as operational (manage multiple projects) expertise to ensure PR campaigns optimize limited financial resources to achieve a measurable market impact. The Sr. Manager must have a track record of managing a successful media relations campaigns that delivered measurable impact and compelling stories to drive awareness for the brand and product.
Product Public Relations
Develop PR strategy and plans for respective business and products, including :
PR narratives and product messaging
Product PR plans from announcement, launch and sustain periods
Take an open-ended mandate and give it analysis and structure to come to a concrete set of PR objectives and a clear way to achieve them
Lead day-to-day management as well as maintenance of press relationships (mainstream, non-traditional)
Proactive media relations
Responsive to media inquiries
Secure & manage executive interviews
Collaborate with global Samsung offices, business groups in Korea and US
Management of outside agencies and other support team members
Lifestyle Marketing Media Communications
Develop and manage publicity for Mobile eXperience brand
Drive awareness and engagement through strategic PR for marketing initiatives and activations
Merchandising of PR results to the organization

Skills and Qualifications Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree, graduate degree a plus
Minimum of 8 years of experience, preferably in Media Relations
Prior experience in the tech, mobile and lifestyle media industry preferred.
Skills / Requirements :
Knowledge of media outlets and contacts
Exceptional project management skill to oversee multiple projects at one time
Exceptional detail orientation
Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
Solid written and verbal communication skills, especially with technical information
High level of professionalism required as a representative of the company

Some travel required (up to 2-3 times per quarter)

Necessary Skills and Attributes Demonstrated ability to interact at all levels within company’s organizations. The ability to negotiate with and convince others, in a potentially adversarial environment, including customer leadership, directors and managers with opposing views to accept / approve plans, technical and project recommendations. The ability to plan, organize and prioritize multiple strategic programs and simultaneous performance objectives. The ability to write, read, interpret, explain and act based on a thorough understanding of technical documents, engineering materials and contracts or related documents. The ability to make professional presentations in writing, through email, reports, or orally, including complex business and technical matters to an audience of high technical skills, management and operational experience. The ability to support a cross-functional Samsung team to achieve customer contracted objectives and specific team goals within established time frames and requirements. Assist in and if needed direct the Samsung team in lab and field trials related to introduction of products sold to the customer.
Physical / Mental Demands Work is generally performed in a hybrid office environment. Operate a computer keyboard and view a video display terminal between more than 50% of work time, including prolonged periods of time. Requires considerable work utilizing high visual acuity / detail, numeric / character distinction and moderate hand / finger dexterity. The movement and transportation of equipment, most of the time is under 25 pounds. Performs work under time schedules and stress which are normally periodic or cyclical, including time sensitive deadlines, intellectual challenges and project management deadlines. Machines, tools, equipment, and work aids include PC’s, printers, copiers, faxes and other equipment commonly associated with an office work area. May require working additional hours beyond normal schedule. Travel varies depending on position.
