About this position
The Audio and Visual Technician is responsible for ensuring that audio and visual technology is operational and College constituents and visitors are able to utilize the full functionality of systems for classes, events, and meetings. The position is fulltime with scheduling changes based upon events within a pay period.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Coordinate audio and visual equipment set up and on-site support for College events by internal and external organizations.
- Monitor available audio and visual technology to ensure functionality for use in classroom teaching.
- Respond to requests for assistance via phone, email and in-person.
- Documents reported issues to communicate to technical staff for higher level assistance.
- Contact vendors when appropriate for assistance with systems and event set-ups.
- Daily verification of systems functioning as expected including all classroom and meeting space audio and visual and related technology.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with technology staff and communicate relevant information which impacts College constituents and visitors.
- Work after-hours and weekend as necessary to support events and programs.
- Contribute to the overall success of the Information Technology Services department by performing all other duties as assigned by the IT'S A/V Coordinator and Technology Lab Manager.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Higher Education experience preferred.
- Experience with audio visual technology required.
- Demonstrated capability of resolving problems for a variety of customer bases while working under minimal supervision.
- Excellent interpersonal, problem solving and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and interact with a wide range of users including students, faculty, staff and College visitors.
- Ability to deal with sensitive information with confidentiality and tact is extremely necessary.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities as well as be flexible to manage and incorporate change is necessary.
- The ability to resolve problems in all phases of systems management while working under minimal supervision
