Piping Designer - Position and Responsibilities

As a Piping Designer with Middough, you will create and establish complex designs consistent with good practices, client requirements, and conformance to Codes & Standards. You will apply standard drafting techniques to generate and interpret drawings in support of projects, ensuring compliance with Company design standards and practices.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1. Coordinate work tasks with the Piping Discipline Manager.
2. Collect and prepare data/information and generate design and detail drawings including orthographic, isometrics, etc.
3. Perform CAD Design of equipment layouts and piping routings according to codes, standards, and client requirements.
4. Interact with other departments and suppliers for pertinent information.
5. Assist with field work, checking installations, and problem-solving activities.
6. Maintain and update the 3D model as required.
7. Participate in intra-disciplinary meetings as requested by the Piping Discipline Manager or Project Manager.
8. Communicate project design and scope changes with internal resources.
9. Adhere to all QA/QC standards.

Education, Experience, and Skills

The successful candidate will possess:

1. An associate degree in a technical discipline with approximately 5 years of relevant experience.
2. 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in process piping.
3. 2D piping design skills using AutoCAD, 3D CAD piping design using Autodesk Plant 3D, and SolidWorks or Inventor.
4. Experience in developing equipment and facility layouts, 3D piping models, orthographic drawings, isometrics, and bill of materials.
5. Understanding of piping systems for industrial facilities.
6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
7. Ability to multitask and stay organized for effective project planning.
8. Excellent attention to detail and communication skills.
9. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements

While performing this role, the candidate will:

• Remain stationary for prolonged periods, often standing or sitting.
• Walk, reach, climb, balance, stoop, bend, and perform repetitive motions.
• Use up-close and distance vision, and adjust focus as needed.
• May be exposed to environmental conditions at client sites, including noise, temperature extremes, and poor air quality.
• Possibly travel to other locations or client sites.
• Possess a valid driver's license and auto insurance.
• Work overtime as needed based on project demands.
