JOB SUMMARY

The Content Marketing Specialist develops and executes compelling content that communicates the distinct value of a Niagara University education, drives enrollment, builds brand awareness, and supports the university's strategic goals. The team member is a strong storyteller and strategic thinker who understands how to create and deliver content that resonates across digital platforms and engages diverse audiences, including prospective students, parents, alumni, media, and the broader community.

The Content Marketing Specialist will be expected to:

  • Research, write, and edit content for web, email campaigns, blogs, brochures, social media, video scripts, and other digital/print materials.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and tell authentic student, faculty, and alumni stories aligned with brand values.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining an editorial calendar tied to enrollment cycles, events, and institutional priorities.
  • Day-to-day execution of email marketing campaigns, including building, testing, scheduling, and deploying messages.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with email marketing platforms and a basic understanding of segmentation, testing, and customer journey flows.
  • Support integrated marketing campaigns for undergraduate and graduate admissions, academic departments, fundraising, and special initiatives.
  • Play a key role in adapting content for SEO, social engagement, and email performance.
  • Track and analyze performance metrics (e.g., engagement, conversions, SEO rankings) to inform and improve content strategy.
  • Ensure all content adheres to brand voice, tone, and visual identity standards.
  • Ability to produce short-form video and photography, as needed.
  • Stay informed on higher education marketing trends, audience behaviors, and digital best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, English or related field.
  • Exceptional skills in communications, marketing, and interpersonal relations.
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic communications and research-based marketing plans.
  • Strong creative, strategic, analytical, organizational, and personal skills.
  • Proven ability to write engaging content for a variety of audiences in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent business analytics, relationship management, strategy development, project management, problem-solving, and change management skills.
  • Demonstrate a professional and positive approach, self-motivated, team player, dynamic, creative with the ability to work on own initiatives.
  • Passion for accuracy, detail, and style.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at a time.
  • Understand how to create content for targeted audiences and evaluate its performance.
  • Extensive knowledge of social media and emerging technologies.

ERGONOMIC REQUIREMENTS

The functions of the position are usually performed sitting, but may require some amount of time standing. Some amount of stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, lifting, walking, carrying and other movements may be required. Tasks involving working on a computer keyboard, computer software applications, and calculator, involve extensive wrist and hand movements. All individuals are required to be able to perform these movements without significant risk of injury to themselves or others.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in communications, marketing, English or a related field is required. A master’s degree and/or a professional certification in marketing or public relations is preferred.
  • At least two years of experience in marketing and/or communications in one or more of the following settings: education, not-for-profit, government, business and/or industry.
  • A valid New York State driver's license is required that satisfies both university and insurance company underwriting rules and regulations for driving a motor vehicle.
