Join to apply for the Graphic Artist role at WGN-TV. WGN-TV, Chicago's Very Own, is a division of Nexstar Media Group. The Creative Services group provides in-house creative and marketing support for WGN-TV and our family of digital products. This full-time opportunity is for an enthusiastic, motivated Graphic Artist/Designer to be an integral part of the Creative Services team.
Responsibilities
- Develop designs and graphics for on-air products, digital and streaming products, digital displays, streaming video, online and mobile applications, and social media.
- Work closely with the Art Director and Creative team management on the image and brand of the station and develop innovative designs to reach viewers and client initiatives across multiple platforms.
- Provide graphics during some news shifts for WGN newscasts. Shifts may be early morning (3:00 a.m.–11:30 a.m.) and evening (2:00 p.m.–10:30 p.m.) or similar times.
- Work with WGN News Producers, Creative Services Producers, Production teams, and other departments to develop infographics and news graphics for station newscasts, locally created content, and WGN+ and digital streams.
- Foster a collaborative and creative team environment, working with team members and News Producers to push design boundaries and achieve creative excellence while telling compelling news stories and maintaining brand identity across all platforms and channels.
- Collaborate on assigned projects to design and develop graphics that support promotions, campaigns, and strategic executions, ensuring alignment with brand standards and communication goals.
Qualifications
- Requires an undergraduate degree in graphic arts or equivalent experience.
- Must be a hands-on graphic artist or motion graphics designer/animator with a portfolio or reel that reflects your skills.
- Must be able to create digital designs and animation; evaluate graphic talent and provide leadership to graphic and motion artists.
- Must be highly skilled in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and After Effects, with strong experience in Photoshop and Illustrator and working knowledge of After Effects; proficiency in Cinema 4D or similar 3D design software is also required.
- Ideally be knowledgeable with Ross Xpression and Chyron Prime.
- Must have a keen sense of current standards in digital video, digital display, television, social media, and print design.
- Requires 1–3 years of experience with either creating digital animations and designs, a television station or broadcast network, and/or a post-production facility.
- Flexibility is required as candidates will be required to work weekend and holiday shifts.
Salary Range
$60,000 – $89,000 Annualized – commensurate with applicant's experience and skill level
