Salary Range: 55,000 – 65,000 USD Annually. The referenced salary range is based on the Company\'s good faith belief at the time of posting. Total compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.

ABOUT THE TEAM

As part of ALM’s global newsroom, the editing team is focused on delivering news, insights and analysis for the legal industry’s top firms and legal professionals. This role focuses on content generation via increasing the output of reporter-generated content and expanding contributed content, and assists with the Law.com newsletter strategy. Our close-knit team edits everything from daily breaking news items to longer analysis pieces to verdicts and settlements items. This position supports the flow of content to our national, regional and VerdictSearch brands, and analyzes the impact of our content sent through newsroom alerts. We are committed to quality journalism and publishing clean copy efficiently. We offer a fun, challenging work environment that provides long-term stability.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and send multiple email alerts each day for various publications.
  • Use analytics to determine newsletter performance and recommend strategies to improve engagement.
  • Edit and publish to the web each day roughly 5-7 news articles and other Law.com content, including for VerdictSearch.
  • Schedule, edit and publish columns written by outside contributors.
  • Take part in judging entries for awards events, and aid in managing and posting finalists and winners content.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be fast and efficient in copy editing at least 7-10 news items per day.
  • Must be able to manage and send multiple email newsroom alerts, and be familiar with using analytics to determine their performance.
  • Must work as a team with a national group of editors to ensure content for all publications is edited in a timely manner.
  • Must thrive in a fast-paced environment and have the ability to juggle multiple deadlines.
  • Must have a strong understanding of AP style.
  • Must be able to quickly grasp legal terms and concepts if not already familiar.
  • Must have a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Must have excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Must edit with attention to detail and be enthusiastic about putting out the best-quality product.
  • Must have a degree in Journalism, Communications, English or similar major, or relevant real-world experience.
  • Editing or analytics experience at a newspaper or magazine is preferred.
