What you'll do

  • Provide supervision and development opportunities for hourly associates by hiring, training, and mentoring of associates; assigning duties; setting clear expectations; providing associate recognition; communicating expectations consistently and effectively promoting a belonging mindset in the workplace; recruiting and developing qualified associates to meet staffing needs and achieve company growth potential.
  • Coordinate, complete, and oversee job-related activities and assignments by developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders; supporting plans and initiatives to meet customer and business needs; identifying and communicating goals and objectives; building accountability for and measuring progress in achieving results; identifying and addressing improvement opportunities; and demonstrating adaptability and promoting continuous learning.
  • Lead and develop teams effectively by teaching, training, and actively listening to associates; touring stores and providing feedback (Tour-to-Teach); communicating and collaborating with all levels of associates regarding store operations, utilizing technology, merchandising, and company direction; introducing and leading company change efforts; providing clear expectations and guidance to implement business solutions; and communicating business objectives to teams effectively.
  • Provide supervision and development opportunities for associates by hiring and training; mentoring; assigning duties; providing recognition; and promoting a belonging mindset in the workplace.
  • Model and demonstrate exceptional customer service standards following the One Best Way (OBW) service model; support customer service initiatives; ensure customer needs and issues are resolved; develop and implement action plans to correct deficiencies; and lead process improvements to ensure a high quality customer experience.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures; support the mission, values, and ethics by implementing related action plans; support the Open Door Policy; provide guidance on applying these in daily business processes and practices.
  • Drive financial performance and sales by reviewing and evaluating P&L statements; assisting in budgeting, forecasting and expense control; ensuring merchandising, inventory flow, and operations are effective; and mitigating shrink to achieve sales and profit goals for the designated business area.

You will also receive PTO and/or PPTO that can be used for vacation, sick leave, holidays, or other purposes. The amount you receive depends on your job classification and length of employment. It will meet or exceed the requirements of paid sick leave laws, where applicable.

Live Better U is Walmart-paid education benefit program for full-time and part-time associates; programs range from high school completion to bachelor’s degrees, including English Language Learning and short-form certificates. Tuition, books, and fees are completely paid for by Walmart.

Additional compensation

Annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may include Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) based on location and Complex Structure based on external factors that create challenges.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2 years’ of college; OR 1 year’s retail experience and 1 year’s supervisory experience; OR 2 years’ general work experience and 1 year’s supervisory experience.
  • For facilities that sell firearms, successful completion of a firearms-specific Criminal Background Check and Firearms Authorized Training may be required.
  • For facilities that sell only ammunition and have state-specific requirements, a current state-issued Certificate of Eligibility may be required.
  • Associates will be required to attend and successfully complete all job-required trainings and assessments (for example, Academy trainings, Open Door trainings, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Leadership through Live Better U and Bellevue University; Certificate of Completion in People and Business Leadership through Live Better U and Bellevue University; general work experience supervising 5 or more direct reports to include performance management, mentoring, hiring, and firing.
