The Film VFX team aims to illuminate stories through captivating imagery and reimagine the future of our industry. The role focuses on financial tracking for VFX in film or series, including budgeting, incentives, and liaising with Production Finance, show-side Accountants, Post Accountants and VFX Producers/Accountants.

The role requires strong understanding of multi-currency projections, government tax incentives, and tying financial controls to visual effects production milestones. This is a demanding and fast-moving position that requires rigor, initiative, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a communication bridge between Visual Effects and Production Finance both at Netflix and on a given Show.
  • Serve as a backstop for incentive tracking and liaise with Tax & Production Finance on keeping projections current.
  • Work closely with the VFX Department drafting internal budgets based on scenario planning.
  • Partner with show-side accountants and VFX accountants to ensure cost report alignment.
  • Historical research and data analysis in support of the Director of VFX, Netflix Production Finance and Resource Planning teams.
  • Work with VFX Associate Managers on improving internal VFX financial tracking workflows.
  • Help VFX Title Management teams with Hot Cost tracking and relationship to potential overages.
  • Maintain VFX department internal budget tracking and ensure accuracy and alignment with Production Finance.
  • Assist and coach show side VFX Producers on proper financial reporting protocols
  • Assist with script versioning analysis and vendor bid analysis as necessary

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in roles in finance/accounting for films or series, with emphasis on post and VFX accounting
  • A passion for visual effects and the technology and artistry that makes it possible
  • Experience navigating VFX vendor bids, and a working knowledge of budgeting for visual effects - including crews
  • Knowledge of VFX incentives and common risks/pitfalls associated with them
  • Diplomacy and discretion in dealing with sensitive issues and confidential matters
  • Ability to pivot quickly in running analysis, scenario planning, and responding to shifting priorities
  • Outstanding executive communication and mastery of the ability to influence without authority
  • Team-player who thrives in a fast paced team-oriented setting
  • Desire and self motivation to continuously learn
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

These considerations can cause your compensation to vary and will also be dependent on your location.

The overall market range for roles in this area of Netflix is typically $170,000 - $525,000. This market range is based on total compensation (vs. only base salary), which is in line with our compensation philosophy. Netflix is a unique culture and environment. Learn more here.
