Overview

The Graphic Designer for Sharp Manufacturing Company of America (SMCA), the manufacturing division of Sharp Electronics Corporation, is responsible for creating various types of user documentation, including how-to guides, references, manuals, packaging, POP, and instructions. This in-office role is based in Memphis, TN.

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize and develop graphics projects with a high level of difficulty or breadth, including multi-media, graphic user interfaces, packaging, manuals, and related printed material for manufacturing and marketing.
  • Work within established project criteria set forth by other business functions.
  • Oversee material, construction, color, surface finishes, and packaging in cooperation with other teams involved in producing printed material or online publications.
  • Collaborate directly with Technical Writers and Industrial Designers for content, drawing, and technical input in layouts.
  • Create support documentation to convey solutions to management or other business functions.
  • Coordinate and manage in-house printing of production-supported manuals and literature.
  • Recommend continuous improvement activities.
  • Support departmental sales, product planning, and business expansion objectives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design or equivalent.
  • Three to five years of professional experience in Graphic Design.
  • Proficient in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and basic Microsoft Office software.
  • A technical background is a plus but not required.
  • Physical Demands: Office environment; ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards; ability to lift and carry small parcels and items.

Compensation

The compensation range for this role is $35,560–$56,600. This range excludes bonuses, incentives, differential pay, and other forms of compensation or benefits. Starting salary will be determined by experience, education, training, certification, and location. You may also be eligible for annual discretionary incentive awards and program-specific awards, subject to program rules.
