A Day in the Life of an Environmental Graphic Designer
As an Environmental Graphic Designer at Toole, you will be part of our Graphic Design team, working with urban designers, landscape architects, planners, and engineers to help users engage with the built environment. You will bridge the gap between 2D and 3D design, using visual communication to help users understand and navigate their environments, and to help public clients envision possibilities for streets, trails, and transit stations. You will work on stakeholder outreach and design workshops, concept plans, design guidelines, wayfinding strategies, branding, signage, and map design, including deliverables from presentations and reports to design intent documents and final artwork. Opportunities for work on urban design, illustration, and 3D renderings are available depending on backgrounds and skill sets.
The EGD team currently includes designers in Los Angeles, Pittsburgh, and Austin, and the selected candidate will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams across Toole Design's 19 offices nationwide.
Salary
We are targeting a salary of $72,000.00 to $80,000.00 for this position with flexibility for exceptionally qualified candidates.
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in graphic design, industrial design, landscape architecture, or related field from an accredited college or university and/or comparable work experience in lieu of a degree
- 3+ years of graphic design experience
- Excellent typography and layout skills
- Proficiency in graphic production using Adobe Creative Suite
- Some experience in 3D design, such as CADTools, SketchUp, SignAgent, and the preparation of signage and wayfinding drawings; other 3D experience with a strong interest to learn is welcome
- Strong logic and writing skills that support the development of sign locations and messaging
- Enthusiasm and interest in human-centered design

Work Schedule
This full-time position typically works a flexible schedule of 40 hours per week and will work from the Seattle office. We provide flexibility and the necessary equipment to work from home two days per week. The Seattle office is located in the heart of Seattle's Business District, blocks from Pike Place Market, the Seattle Art Museum, the Central Public Library, and the Waterfront. It is accessible on foot, by bicycle, and via transit. RapidRide lines C, D, and E stop nearby, and multiple Sound Transit light rail and Sounder lines are a short walk away. Bike lanes are close by on 2nd and 4th avenues.
