Overview
The Research & Faculty Services Librarian at the University of Richmond provides reference, research, and instructional services across the law school community, with a focus on services for faculty to support their scholarship and teaching. The librarian manages a program of support and partnership with faculty to enable their research for effective teaching and productive scholarship. The librarian teaches a mix of required and upper-level courses, including developing and delivering informal and formal upper-level legal research training. The librarian evaluates law-related electronic and print resources to guide students in their use for scholarship and skills development. This position creates library publications, including library news, research guides, and video tutorials.
Working conditions
Physical effort/lifting: mostly sedentary – up to 10 pounds; occasionally light – up to 20 pounds. Occasional weekends may be required on a rotating basis.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of legal resources, print and electronic, and computer-assisted legal research systems
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to interact positively with students, faculty, and other users
- Strong teaching skills and demonstrated effectiveness in conveying legal information in classroom and other instructional settings
Education & Experience
- J.D. from ABA-accredited law school
- Master's degree in Library and/or Information Science from ALA-accredited institution (or equivalent)
- Reference or public services library experience required
- Law library experience strongly preferred
Working Hours
Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5 pm, 38.75 hours per week
Salary
Pay Grade 7 Exempt (Hiring Range $70,00.00 to $85,000 annually)
