Overview
Library Assistants at Bogota Library wear a lot of hats, so if you’re someone who likes to keep busy and learn new things, we are the Library for you!
In keeping with its motto, “tiny but mighty,” Bogota may be small in size, but it is a very busy library with a big heart. This is a perfect position for someone considering graduate school for library science.
Responsibilities
- Circulation: checking items in and out, processing holds and in-transit items, processing new items for the collection, maintaining a helpful and friendly demeanor with all patron interactions, collecting fees for fines, prints, etc., shelving and organizing.
- Programming: setup and cleanup, coordination and execution of programs.
- Reference: helping patrons find items/materials, helping with ready reference questions, assisting with desktop computers and patron devices when possible, assisting with digital library offerings.
- Passport Services: passing a virtual training to become a passport acceptance agent, taking and printing passport photos, processing forms accurately, learning and clearly communicating passport policies to patrons.
Requirements
- US citizenship, as only American citizens can serve as passport acceptance agents
- Completion of a high school diploma or higher
- At least one year of customer service experience
- Familiarity with basic technology: Google Suite, Microsoft, smartphones and tablets, etc.
- Ability to communicate in-person and in writing
- A positive attitude and willingness to work with colleagues and the public
- Fluency in Spanish and/or experience working in a public library, particularly with LEAP/Polaris/Innovative products, a plus
Schedule
Mondays 3-8pm, Wednesdays 3-8pm, and Saturdays 10am-3pm, with the opportunity for more shifts as needed.
