Base pay range: $18.00/hr - $40.00/hr. The Varsity Tutors Live Learning Platform connects thousands of students with online Music Theory tutors nationwide. As a platform tutor, you can set your own schedule, earn competitive rates, and make an impact on students’ learning journeys—from the comfort of your home.

Pay and Benefits

• Base contract rates start at $18/hour and increase for specialized subjects. You’ll earn incrementally higher pay for each session with the same student—reaching up to $40/hour.
• Get paid up to twice per week for tutoring sessions you conduct and invoice.
• Set your own hours and tutor as much as you’d like.
• Tutor remotely using our Live Learning Platform—no commuting required.
• Get matched with students best-suited to your teaching style and expertise.
• AI-powered Tutor Copilot enhances sessions with real-time instructional support, lesson generation, and engagement features to save prep time.
• We handle the logistics—you invoice for sessions and we take care of payments.

What We Look For In a Tutor

• Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
• Expertise in Music Theory with ability to explain concepts clearly.
• Ability to personalize lessons and adapt to different learning styles.
• Priority given to those with tutoring experience, teaching experience, and graduate-level education.
