Role Description
This is a full-time lead reporter position, most likely based in Helena, MT. We're actually hiring for two reporting jobs at the moment -- one will cover East Helena and the surrounding area; the other will mainly cover the northern part of Jefferson County. You'll be responsible for attending city council meetings and various local events, reporting on emerging developments, conducting interviews, researching as needed, writing your articles, fact-checking, and of course, taking editorial advice. Commitment to ethical journalism and accuracy is essential, as is the ability to communicate clearly, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality content.
Qualifications
- Strong reporting, interviewing, and news skills
- Excellent writing and editing ability
- Knowledge of journalistic ethics and integrity
- Ability to work independently and under tight deadlines
- Ability to work collaboratively and with a team
- Competence in digital tools and multimedia storytelling
- Bachelor\'s degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field
- Experience in local news reporting is a plus
