About the Role
As the PR & Communications Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in supporting day-to-day communications activities, coordinating with media contacts, crafting messages that resonate, and assisting in the execution of events and brand activations. You’ll work across multiple projects at once—helping to ensure deadlines are met, campaigns are on-brand, and our public image is polished and consistent.
Your Key Responsibilities
Media & PR Support
Assist in planning and executing PR campaigns from concept to completion
Draft press releases, media alerts, pitch emails, and key messages for public announcements
Maintain and update targeted media lists, ensuring they are accurate and current
Coordinate media outreach, pitch story ideas, and track follow-ups
Monitor press coverage, compile reports, and identify opportunities for increased visibility
Content Creation & Brand Communications
Support the creation of content for press, social media, newsletters, and other communication channels
Help design and assemble media kits, fact sheets, and promotional packages
Collaborate with the design team to ensure materials align with brand guidelines
Proofread and edit written materials to ensure accuracy, clarity, and tone consistency
Event & Activation Support
Assist with the planning, coordination, and execution of media events, product launches, and community activations
Manage event logistics, including vendor communication, scheduling, and staffing coordination
Help prepare event materials, coordinate shipments, and oversee on-site setup and teardown
Serve as a point of contact for vendors, partners, and media during events
Administrative & Research Tasks
Maintain PR calendars, timelines, and campaign trackers
Conduct research on media trends, competitor activities, and industry developments
Provide general administrative support to the PR and marketing teams as needed
What You’ll Bring to the Table
Experience: 1+ year in PR, communications, events, marketing, or a related field (internships and volunteer work considered)
Communication Skills: Exceptional writing and editing skills with a strong grasp of grammar, AP style, and persuasive messaging
Organization: Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines
Adaptability: Comfortable shifting between administrative work, creative projects, and on-site event support
Digital Knowledge: Familiarity with social media platforms, content scheduling tools, and basic analytics
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Google Workspace or Microsoft Office (bonus for Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or PR tools like Muck Rack or Cision)
Attitude: A proactive, collaborative approach with a willingness to learn and contribute
