Overview
Position: National Security Reporter/Technology at The Washington Times. The role focuses on technology as it relates to defense, military, national security and international security affairs.
Base pay range
$70,000.00/yr - $90,000.00/yr
Responsibilities
- Produce a steady stream of exclusive stories about technology as it relates to defense, military, national security and international security affairs.
- Identify and break exclusive stories in Washington, nationally and worldwide with a strong understanding of technology, national security and foreign policy.
- Knowledge of artificial intelligence, propaganda and hacking as they relate to national security and foreign policy.
- Be flexible to contribute stories outside the regular beat; travel may be required. Evening, weekend and holiday hours may be required.
- File quickly to the website and newsletter and develop them for the next day’s newspaper.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Journalism, communications or Political Science preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience covering national security, foreign policy or the military.
- A strong, fast writer who can quickly file stories to the website and newsletter and develop them for the next day’s newspaper.
