Prime Video is a first-stop entertainment destination offering customers a vast collection of premium programming in one app available across thousands of devices. Prime members can customize their viewing experience and find their favorite movies, series, documentaries, and live sports – including Amazon MGM Studios-produced series and movies; licensed fan favorites; and programming from Prime Video add-on subscriptions such as Apple TV+, Max, Crunchyroll and MGM+. All customers, regardless of whether they have a Prime membership or not, can rent or buy titles via the Prime Video Store, and can enjoy even more content for free with ads.

Responsibilities
- Develop ML models for various recommendation & search systems using deep learning, online learning, and optimization methods
- Work closely with other scientists, engineers and product managers to expand the depth of our product insights with data, create a variety of experiments to determine the high impact projects to include in planning roadmaps
- Stay up-to-date with advancements and the latest modeling techniques in the field
- Publish your research findings in top conferences and journals
What you’ll be doing day-to-day
We’re using advanced approaches such as foundation models to connect information about our videos and customers from a variety of information sources, acquiring and processing data sets at scale. This enables us to recommend titles effectively, even with limited behavioral signals, and to surface niche interests. You’ll be a research leader in this space, guiding and collaborating with engineers, scientists, and senior leaders in Prime Video, and have opportunities to publish at internal and external conferences.
About the Team
Prime Video Recommendation/Search Science owns the science solution to power search experience on various devices, from sourcing, relevance, and ranking, to production-ready solutions. We work closely with engineering teams to launch our solutions in production.
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of building models for business application experience
- PhD, or Master’s degree and 4+ years of CS, CE, ML or related field experience
- Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language
- Experience in any of the following areas: algorithms and data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, high-performance computing
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using Unix/Linux
- Experience in professional software development

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
