Role
The Technical Writer – Continuous Improvement should have a strong expertise in process documentation and experience working within a Lean, Agile, and/or ISO-certified environments and will play a key role in documenting organizational processes using standardized company formats. This role will ensure that critical processes are clear, consistent, and aligned with compliance and operational requirements.
Responsibilities
- Develop, write, and maintain clear, structured documentation for business and technical processes using company-approved templates and formats.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts, process owners, and cross-functional teams to capture accurate and detailed information.
- Ensure all documentation complies with Lean, Agile, or ISO-standard guidance and supports organizational compliance, quality, and efficiency initiatives.
- Review, edit, and update existing documentation to align with evolving processes and business needs.
- Create user-friendly process maps, standardized work instructions (SWIs), standard operating procedures (SOPs), guidelines, and reference materials.
- Manage version control and maintain a centralized documentation repository.
- Provide guidance and training to stakeholders on documentation best practices.
Qualifications
- Required Skills/Certification: Lean and Agile and/or Baldrige experience.
- Must have experience and knowledge of Lean practices and fundamentals of writing effective process documentation.
- Proficient with various software – MS Office, MS Navision; experience with ELC preferred.
- Must be able to handle and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
- Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience (3+ years) as a technical writer, process analyst, or similar role in a corporate/regulated environment.
- Strong skills in technical writing, editing, and formatting using standardized templates.
- Familiarity with documentation tools (e.g., SharePoint, MS Visio, Adobe, or equivalent).
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to translate complex processes into clear, concise documentation.
- Long periods of time spent working behind a computer.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of process improvement techniques: 5S, Kaizen, Standardized Work, Process Flow Diagrams.
- Experience in highly regulated industries (e.g., healthcare, supply chain, manufacturing, finance, or technology).
- Ability to create process diagrams, flow charts, and visual documentation.
