Overview
Staff UX Quantitative Researcher, Consumer Shopping at Google. This role focuses on quantitative user experience research to inform product design and evaluation in consumer shopping areas.
Minimum qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience in an applied research setting, or similar.
- Experience in programming languages used for data manipulation and computational statistics, namely Python or R.
- Experience and comfort working in SQL in applied research settings.
Preferred qualifications
- Master's degree or PhD in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Statistics, Psychology, Anthropology, or related field.
- 8 years of experience conducting UX research on products.
- 5 years of experience managing projects, and working in a large, matrixed organization.
- Experience with CRUST tooling and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) methodology.
- Track record in method or infrastructure development for analysis.
Responsibilities
- Develop, validate, and maintain measurement of quality dimensions relevant to Shopping in large language model conversational tools, using structural equation modeling.
- Demonstrate excellent scientific and statistical judgement, producing insights and setting a high technical standard for other quantitative researchers.
- Combine survey methodology and experimentation with logs-derived signals, creating a holistic evaluation of AI response quality.
- Perform foundational research to inform metrics development and implement those metrics to power UX measurement and user understanding.
- Deliver insights and guiding principles across job functions and product teams in shopping, as well as leadership in our broader knowledge and information organization.

You’ll combine skills from computer science, quantitative social science, econometrics, data science, survey research, psychology, and related fields to improve user experience.
Compensation
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $178,000-$265,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Your recruiter can share the specific range for your preferred location during the hiring process. Please note that listed compensation reflects base salary only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits.
