Responsibilities
Develop and oversee detailed civil design plans, including grading and earthwork, erosion and sedimentation control, layout, stormwater, and utility. Utilize Autodesk Civil3D extensively to create and refine design plans. Work with sketches and little verbal or written directions to produce design plans. Perform self-reviews of completed work to identify and correct obvious errors before issuing the product for review by others. Review work produced by less-experienced staff and provide constructive feedback. Offer value-oriented suggestions on project plan production and designs to enhance quality. Assist with general office functions such as printing and folding drawings, deliveries, and copying. Help raise the base level of technical competency in software and plan presentation on project teams. Proficiency in Civil3D, with a minimum of 7 years of experience using the design tools in Civil3D in production. In-depth understanding of construction-level drawings associated with Civil work. In-depth understanding of civil design elements, including grading and earthwork, erosion and sedimentation control, layout zoning, stormwater management, and utility design. Ability to read and understand engineering reports. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Proficient in Bluebeam or other PDF mark-up and review software. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong problem-solving skills and openness to both receiving and offering help in a team environment. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to meeting personal and team deadlines. Flexible and adaptable to a fast-paced environment. Leadership skills to mentor and guide less-experienced staff and help raise levels of technical competency across teams. Ability to provide constructive feedback and value-oriented suggestions. Technical associate degree or certificate; or high school diploma with equivalent on-the-job experience. Bachelor’s degree in an engineering-related field is a plus.
