The Game Recap Editor, Content Creation will be a key member of the NBA’s Social & Digital, Content Creation team, responsible for producing compelling, platform-optimized video content across a variety of digital and social channels. This role requires a creative and technically skilled editor who can craft engaging content for YouTube, NBA App, Instagram, X, TikTok, and other platforms, while also supporting game recaps, promotional campaigns, and branded/sponsored content. The ideal candidate is a digital native with a passion for basketball and a deep understanding of how to tell stories that resonate with diverse audiences across formats and platforms. WORK OPTION: Hybrid Major Responsibilities
Edit game recaps, highlight reels, and player features with a strong sense of pacing, music, and storytelling. Identify elements and potential storylines from NBA live games and tentpole events throughout the season from the NBA’s Content Command Center (This include nights and weekends). Ability to storyboard, create scripts for voiceovers, and shot sheets to follow the game story Collaborate with producers, content creators, and designers to develop platform-specific video content. Edit promotional and branded content for league initiatives, theme weeks, and tentpole events (e.g., NBA Cup, All-Star, Playoffs). Edit and deliver high-quality video content for multiple platforms including YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, X, NBA App and NBA.com. Maintain brand consistency and editorial standards across all content. Stay current with trends in sports media, social video, and editing techniques to keep NBA content fresh and relevant. Ensure all videos meet NBA standards and are optimized for engagement Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines. Actively participating in content planning for all league’s social and digital platforms Required Skills/Knowledge
Deeply knowledgeable and passionate about the NBA, WNBA and G League and their players, coaches, and teams Background in digital, social, photos and graphics production/editing or video content production Strong writing and communication skills, as well as ability to execute editorial judgment Experience with creating branded and sponsored content for external clients Strong knowledge of and active use of social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, X, Snapchat, TikTok, and YouTube Strong knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, including Premiere, Photoshop and After Effects Ability and willingness to work on deadline and handle multiple tasks at once with a precise and detail-oriented approach Ability and willingness to work both independently and as part of a team Ability to work nights, weekends, and during live events as needed Experience Needed
3+ years of experience in video editing, preferably in sports or entertainment. Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, and other relevant tools. Strong understanding of social media platforms and what performs well on each. Portfolio of video work is ideal. Educational Background Required
Bachelor’s degree in Media Production, Communications, Digital Media, or a related field.
