Redwood Electric is looking for a skilled Fire Alarm CAD Designer who will be responsible for developing and modifying fire alarm system design drawings using AutoCAD. This role supports the Fire Alarm Division by preparing submittal drawings, riser diagrams, panel layouts, wiring details, and as-built documentation for design-build and plan/spec projects. The Fire Alarm CAD Designer will work closely with project managers, engineers, and field teams to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely completion of deliverables. Responsibilities

Prepare detailed fire alarm layout drawings, including device placement, riser diagrams, wiring schematics, and panel configurations Generate submittal and as-built drawing packages based on project specifications, markups, and field input Interpret architectural, electrical, mechanical, structural, and civil drawings for accurate integration of fire alarm systems Coordinate with project managers and vendors to incorporate equipment details and updates Apply AutoCAD automation tools and maintain drawing standards to ensure consistency across projects Perform QA/QC checks on drawings to ensure compliance with code requirements and project needs Track project progress, manage deadlines, and organize drawing files and documentation following company standards Conduct occasional site visits for field verification or project kick-off meetings Collaborate with internal teams to integrate fire alarm drawings with other low-voltage or electrical systems Perform other duties as assigned Required Skills and Abilities

Proficiency in AutoCAD and knowledge of fire alarm design practices Familiarity with NFPA 72, NEC, and local fire code requirements Strong time management and organizational skills Ability to read and interpret construction documents and technical product data Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) Clear written and verbal communication skills Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities Education and Experience

Certificate or degree in Drafting, AutoCAD, or related field preferred 3+ years of experience in fire alarm design or low voltage CAD drafting NICET Level I certification or ability to obtain within 6 months (Level II preferred) Experience with manufacturers such as Honeywell/Notifier preferred Working Conditions

This position is based in our Santa Clara office and is not eligible for remote work. Work may be performed in an office or on active job sites depending on role and project needs. Office work includes sitting, typing, and using a computer for extended periods. Field environments may involve walking, standing, bending, or lifting materials (up to 30 lbs). Noise levels range from quiet (office) to high (job sites). May require occasional travel to project locations or meetings.
