EvolveMKD is seeking a dynamic, strategic, and results-driven Director to join our Public Relations team. This person should have proven experience working across consumer lifestyle, wellness and/or consumer healthcare brands. This person should have a track record of executing strong media launches and maintenance efforts, as well as strategic public relations initiatives such as events or strategic partnerships. This person will have demonstrated acumen for building client relationships and strong consumer lifestyle media relationships.

EvolveMKD is based in Manhattan, and we operate on a hybrid schedule (in-office 3 days a week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday). Relocation assistance is not provided.

Job Overview The Director, Public Relations will play a pivotal role in leading client accounts and executing strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in client management, event execution, and media relations. This person should be first to volunteer for any task at hand and run with it, and show bravery in trying new tasks and learning new technology. They should be a self-starter with strong research, project management, and organization skills. We expect that team members at this level have an inner sense of “restless discontent,” i.e. they are constantly looking to elevate their client work and their personal skill set. We also expect all team members to demonstrate a strong problem-solving skillset, as EvolveMKD is a fast-paced, start-up environment.

Passion and enthusiasm for the work, as well as team collaboration and respect are required.

Key Responsibilities Client and Account Management

Serve as a key contact for clients, building and maintaining strong relationships, ensuring clients feel prioritized and valued

Lead the execution of strategic PR plans, ensuring alignment with client goals and industry trends, anticipating challenges and delivering strategic solutions

Manage day-to-day account operations, including project timelines, budgets, and deliverables across direct reports, peers, clients, vendors and freelancers

Ensure all client initiatives are completed in a timely manner, and ultimately deliver business results

Run client calls that demand on-the-spot recommendations and proactive thinking (i.e. above and beyond reading off the agenda); demonstrate the ability to anticipate client needs and proactively answer questions that the client hasn’t yet asked

Organize and run in-person client meetings with poise, presence, and strategic thinking

Develop forward-facing six- or twelve-month plans and execute overarching brand initiatives and promotional campaigns with an emphasis on proposal development, execution timeline, and budget management, with vendor coordination as necessary

Develop KPI measurement strategy and deliver on it

Assist in the development of new business proposals

Media Relations

Execute media strategies, ensuring alignment with client objectives and target audiences

Develop and maintain strong relationships with long-lead and short-lead media (broadcast a plus) and leverage these relationships to secure client features across broadcast, print, and digital

Monitor media trends and competitor activity to inform client strategies and recommendations

Events

Oversee the planning and execution of PR and influencer events such as treatment days, press trips, product launches, desksides, mailers, etc.

Team Management

Be able to “manage up” to the EVP, PR and CEO and effectively communicate issues/successes to senior staff with a sense of ownership and urgency; continually identify areas for team improvement

Manage and mentor mid-level and junior staff, fostering a culture of growth, collaboration, and accountability

Execute bi-annual reviews for direct report(s) and weekly 1:1’s, providing constructive feedback and identifying opportunities for professional development

Annual Base Salary Range:

$125,000-$150,000

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, Public Relations, English, Marketing a plus but not required

8+ years of relevant agency PR experience; experience in consumer lifestyle preferred

3+ years of management experience

Demonstrates the ability to effectively manage client accounts, including managing junior staff, handling crisis, and sticking to budgets

Ability to synthesize a wide variety of information, then set both high level and detailed strategy accordingly

Strong time management skills; ability to work quickly under pressure without sacrificing quality and maintaining impeccable attention to detail

Big picture thinker with ability to ideate and execute end-to-end client strategy, down to the small details

Outstanding written and verbal communication skills (strong writing, copy-editing, and presentation skills)

Proven track record of generating results

Highly organized, responsive, and punctual

Problem solving skills and inner drive to improve efficiency and delivery beyond expectations for both the agency and for clients

Hands-on mentality and strong work ethic; ability to thrive and remain highly organized in a fast-paced environment

Anticipatory and proactive in nature coupled with consistency in following up

Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite, Zoom, and Slack
