Drive positive engagement with internal and external stakeholders through communicating compelling Astellas growth stories. Build trust in Astellas’ corporate values, vision, direction, and brands. Develop and implement communications strategies and tactics/programs that help drive business priorities and objectives for the US business. Provide strategic communications counsel to the US Market Leadership Team and develop compelling communications content such as leader’s messages (email/social), presentation material, executive talking points, announcements, Q&As, external key messages, press statements, etc. Promote change communications in support of transformation and change management efforts. Raise corporate profile and profile of the Company’s portfolio to stakeholders including media, HCPs, payers and patient groups. Lead response for litigation or issues management requiring communication support in partnership with the wider global Commercial Communications team. Drive engagement among relevant external stakeholders and employees to support brand growth of strategic products and portfolio; coordinate publicisation of R&D/clinical data milestones to build Astellas reputation in therapy areas. Brand Communications

Oversee and support the US Brand Communications teams to ensure the US Brand and disease programmes align with the strategic imperatives. Drive engagement among external stakeholders and employees to support brand growth of priority products. Ensure brand communications programs are approved, compliant and implemented within timelines. Coordinate publicisation of R&D/clinical data milestones to build Astellas reputation in therapy areas. Contextualize and implement global content, augment global activities with US activities (co-creation). Drive internal disease awareness/education and communicate Brand Communications news/updates/launches. Internal Communications

Support the US Leadership Team to drive strategic alignment, engagement and foster culture/behaviors to maximize regional performance amid ongoing change. Plan and execute executive communications for the Head of Commercial and Head of Medical Affairs, and other US regional LT members (as appropriate). Develop a robust internal communications strategy that engages employees and supports understanding of the organization’s strategies, objectives, values and direction, using a range of channels. Establish and optimize internal communication channels such as intranet, Viva Engage, emails and events to support effective communications. Pull through global content and contextualize it for the US audience; create high-quality internal communication content aligned with strategy. Direct the Communications Team to act as guardians of the Corporate Brand Guidelines in the assigned market region, ensuring guidelines are followed in all communications. External Communications

Tell a compelling Astellas growth story through the right channel, voice and timing to the target audience. Position Astellas as a progressive health partner and demonstrate value to patients, healthcare systems and society through external communications tactics. Represent the company externally and support contacts with industry, government bodies, customers and the public to maintain a positive view of the company and its products. Develop and direct an external-facing strategic communications program annually engaging wider stakeholders such as patient groups, media and trade bodies. Identify and maximize corporate media and awards opportunities to raise the company profile; work with senior management to leverage media opportunities. Direct the team to develop corporate materials for media events (press releases, Q&As, key messages, press packs, brochures, advertising). Organize media training for senior management and provide message coaching as required. Direct daily media monitoring and manage corporate inboxes; ensure websites are up-to-date and aligned with company messages. Qualifications

BS or BA Degree or equivalent in journalism, communications or related field. Minimum 15+ years of increasing corporate communications or public relations experience, preferably in healthcare. Experience in brand/products communications in the pharmaceutical industry. Experience managing a small team; experience developing robust PR strategies that engage internal and external stakeholders. Ability to work under pressure with external media and stakeholders; understanding of how the media works; comfortable dealing with journalists. Able to engage internal stakeholders at all levels to support buy-in for programs and strategies; ideally experience in both consultancy/agency and in-house contexts. Experience managing agencies; substantial commercial communications experience including international healthcare communications. Experience working at above-country levels in Asia Pacific or Emerging Markets. Professional copywriting experience in public relations. Preferred

Small team leadership and coaching skills. Self-starter with ability to initiate and drive strategic communications initiatives. Flexible and solutions-driven approach; able to work in changing/global environments and align with objectives. Comfortable dealing with senior colleagues across the organization (up to CEO); ability to retain and manage confidential information. Working Environment

Hybrid work arrangement with flexible option to work from home in line with company guidelines. Compensation and Benefits

Salary range: $197,000 – $282,000 (final salary may vary based on experience). Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance; 401(k) match; life insurance. Annual corporate bonus and quarterly incentive for eligible positions; long-term incentive plan for eligible positions.
