Sanrio is the global lifestyle brand known for Hello Kitty and a cast of characters. We’re seeking a Softlines Designer to bring bold, character‑driven designs to life across apparel, accessories, and lifestyle products. You will assist, support, and work closely with the Softlines Design team, designing ideas from concept to final sample and collaborating with cross‑functional teams, licensees, and creative partners to ensure on‑trend, high‑quality products that are irresistibly cute. Responsibilities

Assist and support Softlines in the development and design of on‑trend products for each season. Communicate day‑to‑day design direction and brand guidelines to internal departments and external Licensees/partners; develop innovative and creative concepts. Responsible for Softlines product approvals (approval system, T1/T2 samples, etc.), 3D review/analysis, creating overlays, and related tasks. Provide overlays and learn a variety of product development executions in apparel, accessories, health and beauty, soft carry goods, and home goods. Track and administer licensing product approval processes for assigned licensees and collaboration partners. Collaborate with Softlines team members, the Creative team, and other departments as needed. Build relationships with Licensee partners and provide feedback on creative research for Softlines categories around trends, product, materials, and colors. Prioritize Sanrio brand standards when implementing design comments across all categories and provide feedback for Licensees. Work with Licensees to ensure character/brand integrity, design excellence, legal compliance, and quality of licensed products. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications

AA in Fashion Design, Product Development, or closely related area (BA/BFA preferred). 2+ years of experience in the consumer product industry or equivalent design expertise. Working knowledge of various raw materials (e.g., textiles, ceramics) and how they relate to Softlines products. Excellent drawing/illustration skills with knowledge of Softlines product development; ability to translate objectives into visual deliverables; proficient with computer tools to execute designs. Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office; experience with Basecamp and My Mediabox is a plus. Strong organization and time management; ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities. Resourceful with strong logic and critical thinking; able to pivot in a fast‑paced environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; team player capable of taking direction and collaborating professionally. Ability to maintain confidentiality of company/licensee design concepts and information. Employment Details

Location: Southern California (hybrid position). Travel to our offices required one or two days per week.
