Overview
Manager, Foundation Communications role at Hackensack Meridian Health is responsible for developing and executing strategic communications for the HMH Foundation to internal and external audiences. The Manager works closely with the Executive Director and Manager of Digital Philanthropy to develop donor-centric communications materials to engage individuals with the potential to make annual, major and principal gifts. They are instrumental in generating editorial content for print, digital and social channels, as well as marketing materials, and are a key member of the Foundation's media relations team. The Manager of Communications upholds brand/identity guidelines and shares responsibility in reviewing communications and marketing materials from foundation team members to ensure effective and on-brand graphic design.
Responsibilities
- Creates editorial content that aligns with organizational goals and supports HMH's mission.
- Develops materials, leave-behinds and other collateral to help cultivate and steward our prospects and donors.
- Collaborates with Foundation and Health System colleagues to identify meaningful stories from donors.
- Drafts executive communications for key stakeholders.
- Conducts thoughtful interviews with enterprise leaders, clinicians, service line leaders, medical students, donors and administrators to support content development.
- Partners with network and Foundation executives, leaders and colleagues on scripting for videos and donor events.
- Helps ensure that messaging is consistent throughout proposals, case materials, publications and other communications vehicles.
- Collaborates with System Marketing and Communications colleagues to disseminate key messages through various channels in support of the Foundation and to elevate philanthropy.
- Develops fundraiser toolkits, proposal templates and other training materials, as needed, to help frontline fundraisers advance gift conversations and ultimately secure significant gifts for strategic priorities.
- Manages relationships with media to ensure HMHF news and stories receive optimal reach.
- Develops recurring internal and external newsletters for team members and donors.
- Works in a multi-disciplinary, team-oriented environment.
- Other duties and/or projects as assigned.

Qualifications
- Baccalaureate degree from an accredited four-year college or university required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in communications at a complex organization.
- An articulate, genuine touch; professional enthusiasm; ability to innovate and be resourceful; a strong work ethic; superior oral and written communication skills; and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Dynamic storyteller.
- Collegial team player able to interact effectively with internal and external constituencies.
- Effective in a fast-paced environment and eager to contribute to the collaborative goals of an organization.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments and deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills that include Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office platforms.
Preferred qualifications
- Working knowledge of fundraising principles and practices, as well as health care, is desirable.
