Overview

Healthcare Consultancy Group (HCG) is the global healthcare communications partner for pharma and biotech that accelerates the impact of medical science. HCG defines the healthcare communications landscape at the convergence of people, purpose, science, and technology, driving the impact that pharma needs to realize the promise of innovative medicines. We’ve created a model of four powerhouses—Commercial & Marketing, Medical Affairs, Publications, Regulatory—that enables hyperconnected, audience-centric engagement that delivers health impacts for our clients. Our purpose is to accelerate the impact of science.

Scientific discovery moves humanity forward, creating better ways to connect, to care, to live. The innovations our clients create not only improve lives but save them. We work every day to maximize that impact. With the ability to define what’s next, we keep clients ahead of the evolving industry landscape. We interrogate our client’s challenge to identify real opportunity, combining industry foresight with relentless execution to ensure their story connects with the right audience when it matters most. Together, we move medicine closer to patients and accelerate the impact of science.

Below is an overview of what we’re looking for in an Executive Creative Director — a pivotal leadership role designed to elevate our creative function and reimagine how we bring emotive scientific strategy to life across medical education.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a transformative creative leader—someone who brings vision, boldness, and a deep respect for science and patient impact. This role will help redefine creative in a space that’s often dominated by data-heavy, static communications. The goal: put creative back on the map in medical communications, especially in promotional medical education, HCP promotion, and medical affairs.

This leader will partner closely with scientific, digital and strategic teams to shape ideas that are not only clinically sound, but unmissable, engaging, and forward-thinking. They should be excited to challenge traditional approaches, lead a high-performing team, and set a new creative bar for our agency and clients.

Ideal Profile

  • 15+ years in creative leadership roles (agency or in-house), with strong healthcare / medical communications and / or HCP promo experience
  • Portfolio that reflects science-led creative — ideally across HCP education, medical affairs, publications, precision marketing and education, peer-to-peer, and / or innovative digital tactics
  • Strong leadership presence—comfortable driving creative vision, building up a creative department, mentoring teams, and representing the agency with clients
  • Experience modernizing traditional formats, building cross-functional partnerships, and shaping a strong internal creative culture
  • Operational excellence - ability to balance creative ambition and talent advancement within operational realities
  • A mix of big-picture vision and hands-on creative craft is ideal
  • Embodies our HCG values: Relentless Drive, Collective Grit and Raw Courage

Why This Role Matters

We’re in a period of growth and transformation—evolving our structure, deepening scientific partnerships, and investing in creativity as a true strategic differentiator. This ECD will play a foundational role in that evolution—helping us win smarter, engage clients more deeply, and spark the kind of work that drives lasting impact and gets noticed across the industry.
