Overview TEGNA is seeking an innovative, experienced, and energetic Morning Executive Producer to lead the editorial content and strategy of our morning news product. This role is ideal for a strong newsroom leader with a passion for breaking news, weather coverage, dynamic storytelling, and engaging local content. The Morning EP will help evolve our shows beyond headlines — creating an experience that is informative, relevant, and uniquely local, with a strong digital mindset.

Lead the Morning Newsroom Team: Supervise producers, writers, anchors, and MSJs to create compelling and forward-thinking newscasts. Mentor staff and foster a positive, collaborative culture that aligns with TEGNA values. Own the Editorial Vision: Set the tone and direction of morning news coverage, ensuring content is accurate, engaging, and aligned with the station’s brand and mission. Encourage enterprise, original storytelling, and accountability journalism. Drive Breaking News & Weather Coverage: Make fast, informed decisions during live broadcasts. Direct breaking news coverage and ensure timely, clear, and comprehensive weather reporting—essential for morning audiences. Integrate Across Platforms: Collaborate with digital teams to enhance multi-platform storytelling. Drive content that resonates on-air and online, with strong headlines, visuals, and SEO-friendly strategies. Promote Viewer Engagement: Work closely with promotions and marketing to create and support audience-growing content strategies, including teases, social media integration, and franchise segments. Focus on Innovation & Pacing: Use TEGNA’s tools and analytics to inform decisions. Drive a modern approach to show format, storytelling, and viewer experience. Coach for Continuous Improvement: Lead daily editorial meetings, post-show critiques, and development sessions. Help team members grow and align with TEGNA’s standards of excellence. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in journalism, Communications, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in broadcast news, with at least 2 in a leadership role. Deep understanding of journalistic ethics, editorial judgment, and viewer engagement. Demonstrated success producing high-impact, high-energy shows. Experience with newsroom systems (ENPS) and digital CMS tools. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. A passion for serving local communities with impactful journalism.
