What will I do in this role with Garden Spot?
Ensure compliance of music therapy services with American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) standards, Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT) standards, state and federal requirements, and GSC policy and procedure. Have the opportunity to conduct music therapy assessments to assess residents' emotional well-being, physical health, social functioning, communication abilities, and cognitive skills in response to music therapy for addressing therapeutic needs. Develop treatment plan of care as needed (including Care Plans and Individual Service Plans) including appropriate therapeutic goals and objectives, when assessment determines resident is appropriate for services. Reviews the patient's clinical record and all medical history to determine the effectiveness of specific treatments or therapy approaches. Develop and coordinate appropriate evidence-based interventions and methods for therapy sessions, which include researching music, learning music, making aides, playlists and CD's, and additional planning and preparatory duties needed to provide direct care. Implement treatment plan by structuring, coordinating, evaluating and providing music therapy services to individuals and groups. Escort residents within the facility from one area to another area where music therapy may occur. Maintain documentation of all related music therapy care in accordance with American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) and Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT) professional standards and ethics. Work with the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) and attend the IDT meetings. Provide information about music therapy to residents, family, and staff through conversations and presentations. Practice proper infection control precautions, including instrument cleaning and physical distancing in groups. Develop budget for purchase of instruments and other items. What do I need for this role with Garden Spot?
Must be currently board certified, or certified within 6 months of employment, as a Music Therapist-Board Certified (MT-BC) through the national Certification Board for Music Therapists. Must hold a Bachelors or Masters degree in Music Therapy from an American Music Therapy Association approved program. CPR & first aid certification required. Ability to cope with the stress of changing and unexpected situations.
