General Work Schedule:

Position typically works Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm in-office at UCOs main campus in Edmond, Oklahoma.

Position Overview

Assist in the creation, development, production, and dissemination of library communications. Create and coordinate the librarys social media posts and outreach efforts to students, faculty, and staff. Provide support for library events, promotional and fundraising efforts for the Max Chambers library. Update and assemble promotional materials, provide support to senior personnel in developing marketing, communications, and/or fundraising plans. Serves as the initial point-of-contact for communication and/or marketing inquiries from on-and-off campus entities.

Department Specific Essential Job Functions

Assists with the development, coordination, and execution of the Max Chambers Librarys communications and marketing efforts to improve awareness and understanding of library resources, services, and events among campus stakeholders and external communities. Works with the Library Advancement and Communications team as well as other Library colleagues to coordinate communications and outreach efforts at the departmental level. Assists the Library Graphic Designer with the creation and production of the FOL newsletter and library blogs, including the writing, editing and proofreading of articles. Assists the library Advancement and Communications team with the creation and promotion of library fundraising campaigns and membership drives. Assists with library-wide publicity activities. Coordinates the Librarys social media accounts including creating posts, posting to platforms as well as analyzing, tracking and reporting Search Engine Optimization of social media posts and accounts for reach, effectiveness and trends. Schedules Emma e-mail blasts, UCO Centralities and library press release items with University Communications and functions as the librarys primary point of contact with University Communications. Serves as the primary point of contact for inquiries and communication regarding library social media and event activities. Serves as the initial point of contact in the Library Advancement and Communications department for questions from within the campus community regarding library marketing, outreach, and fundraising efforts. In-addition will serve as the initial point of contact for inquiries from external, non-university entities regarding library publicity and events. Serves as the Librarys representative on the Campus Communicators Council. Serves on internal library and UCO campus committees. Reports to the Coordinator of Library Advancement and Communication Services. Performs other related duties as directed by supervisor. Qualifications/Experience Required:

Requires a bachelors degree or 2+ years of equivalent work experience and education that provides knowledge of and exposure to fundamental theories, principles and concepts.

Qualifications/Experience Preferred:

Bachelors degree in strategic communications, communications, or public relations and/or prior work experience in communications, marketing or public relations. Knowledge of and experience with social media platforms and social media management software in a professional setting. Experience with event planning and execution. Experience with promotional photography and audio and video production.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Excellent communication (written and oral) and public relations skills. Proficiency in social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook/Meta, Instagram, and X. Ability to analyze trends on social media platforms. Must be computer literate in the use of relevant software applications (word processing, spreadsheets, database management, graphic design, video production). Adobe Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Express, Premier) experience a plus. Ability to work well with others. Ability to operate office equipment. Ability to multitask and give attention to detail. Demonstrates a warm and caring professional service-oriented attitude. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to work well in a hectic and stressful environment. Must be self-motivated.
