Library Custodian
This position serves as a member of our custodial team. This position will provide custodial services to maintain clean and safe county libraries. Duties require cleaning of all assigned areas, which may include, cleaning and disinfecting building areas, bathrooms, and drinking fountains; emptying trash located inside building and transporting trash to dumpster; dry and wet mopping and vacuuming floors; dusting and spot cleaning walls and doors in high and low areas; restocking bathroom supplies; cleaning and polishing furniture; cleaning interior windows and interior/exterior doorway windows. Perform other work as required. Uniforms are provided.
This position is a part of an approved Career Development Plan (CDP) and offers career progression opportunities and salary incentives, as funding permits, based on performance, qualifications, and experience.
High school diploma or GED and six months of experience in custodial work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Ability to lift 50 pounds. Ability to perform physically demanding work including, but not limited to, walking up and down stairs, standing for prolonged periods, squatting, stooping, bending, twisting, stretching, crawling, and reaching overhead. This position is subject to working in areas around youth under the age of 18 and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent criminal background check "Child Protective Services (CPS)." Working knowledge of tools and equipment used in custodial services and knowledge of green cleaning methods is preferred. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check, and education/degree verification required.
The schedule is 28 hours per week on the following days: Monday thru Thursday 7:30 p.m. - 12:30 a.m.; Friday 4:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.; Saturday 4:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.
