Job Summary

Weissman is looking for a Freelance Hair + Makeup Artist to support our photo studio during on-figure shoots. This role is all about creating polished, custom looks that bring out the best in each model and align with the brand’s creative direction. From selecting products and colors to styling hair and applying makeup, the artist ensures that every look is camera-ready. This is a freelance position, booked as needed, with availability required during standard studio hours.

The ideal candidate has experience in both hair and makeup for commercial or editorial work, thrives in fast-paced environments, and has a strong creative eye. With excellent communication skills and attention to detail, the Hair + Makeup Artist helps deliver professional, on-brand results while collaborating closely with photographers, stylists, and the creative team.

Responsibilities

• Create custom hair and makeup looks based on project requirements
• Stay current with beauty trends, products, and techniques to bring fresh ideas to set
• Communicate with photographers, stylists, and clients to ensure creative alignment
• Maintain high standards of hygiene and adhere to health and safety regulations
• Adjust looks as needed throughout the shoot to keep models camera-ready
• Support a professional and positive on-set environment

Qualifications

Education

• Certification or degree in Cosmetology, Makeup Artistry, or related field preferred

Experience

• Prior professional experience in both hair and makeup for commercial or editorial projects
• Experience working with children and teens ages 3–17

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Excellent knowledge of makeup products, hair styling techniques, and application methods
• Strong creative eye with attention to detail and design aesthetics
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-oriented mindset
• Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a deadline-driven environment
• Positive, proactive, and adaptable team player
• Must live within driving distance of our Maplewood, St. Louis studio
