Overview

Audio Engineer Adjunct Instructor role at SAE Institute. This is a Part-Time Adjunct Instructor position with an ongoing contract renewal as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide education that aligns with the SAE model of curricula and delivery
  • Establish a classroom environment conducive to learning and student involvement
  • Contribute to a learning culture by participating in academic advising, serving on curriculum committees, supporting campus events such as new student orientation and graduation, and participating in various other workshops and collegiate meetings
  • Manage the learning environment by keeping accurate records and enforcing college policies and procedures
  • Post attendance within one hour of the end of class, assignment grades within one week of submission, and final grades within 48 hours of the end of the course
  • Develop instructional plans to meet course competencies and develop course activities that support lesson objectives
  • Effectively plan and prepare for classes and student success
  • Contact and advise students who are at risk for attendance and/or academics to help provide support, and coordinate with Academic staff to effectively manage at-risk students
  • Maintain, update, manage, and ensure accuracy of content on Learning Management System (Canvas) for all assigned courses
  • Use the Learning Management System (Canvas) to effectively engage and communicate with students to supplement and support course and program learning outcomes
  • Maintain instructor eligibility according to applicable federal, state, and accrediting regulations
  • Abide by all SAE policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Education: Diploma or Associate Degree courses require a bachelor’s degree minimum for faculty teaching courses other than general education, with related experience. For bachelor degree courses, a master’s degree minimum with related experience. Certifications in Audio Technology (e.g., ProTools or Logic) are preferred for audio faculty.
  • Competencies: Expert knowledge of subject matter; excellent verbal and written communication; ability to foster a cooperative atmosphere; conflict resolution; time management and critical thinking; strong organizational skills; ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines; ability to work independently; proficiency with common office software (e.g., Microsoft Office) and posting attendance and grades in a timely manner.

Additional Information

This is an on-site, campus-based, part-time and temporary position. Working 29 hours per week or less; this position does not qualify for benefits, including health benefits, except where applicable by law. The course pay rate is $4,600 to $5,000 per term.
