Overview

Event Technician, Audio Visual (Part Time) - Westin Huntsville at Encore. A Technician is responsible for the setup and operation of basic/small-scale audiovisual systems in a hospitality environment while ensuring complete customer satisfaction. This role reports to an Operations Manager, Operations Director, or Director, Event Technology.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Equipment Operation: Ensure a flawless event through accurate and timely setup, operation, and breakdown of basic audiovisual equipment as listed in the technical qualifications section.
  • Customer Service: Strive to exceed the expectations and needs of internal and external customers; maintain positive client relationships through effective communication; meet with guests on site to ensure needs are met and equipment is working; monitor events and check in on customers throughout the day; foster hotel/client relationships.
  • Technical Ability: Understand technical aspects of the job; troubleshoot and solve equipment/software issues; handle equipment challenges and changes promptly and professionally.
  • Systems Knowledge: Follow company processes, complete systems entry and paperwork accurately; use equipment sheets to schedule setup and strike; interact with staff and outside vendors; utilize floor up-selling techniques; work with clients to finalize invoices; complete order entries as needed.

Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required; Associate’s degree preferred.
  • Internal applicants must meet training and certification requirements as determined by Encore’s Global Learning Training Program.
  • External applicants must meet training and certifications required for this position within one year; see career path for details.
  • 1 year of customer service or hospitality experience preferred.
  • 1 year of audio-visual experience or equivalent in an educational environment preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required for team members who may operate Company vehicles; additional DOT requirements may apply.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Work Environment

Hotel/convention center environment with exposure to outdoor temperatures, dirt, sand, and dust. Conditions range from moderately quiet to noisy. Team members work with high-end AV equipment and electrical components, with exposure to heights via lifts and ladders. May work at multiple hotel locations; irregular hours and on-call status including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Appearance guidelines apply as defined by Encore.

Compensation and Benefits

Hourly Pay Range: $15.09 - $18.49. Final compensation based on qualifications, location, travel, experience, and skills. Some positions may be eligible for overtime, bonuses, or incentives. Encore provides a benefits program; view details for worldwide benefits and inclusivity commitments.
